Most of my blog photos are shot at weekends. There’s a practical reason for that, of course: that’s when my photographer/husband, Professor M, is around to take pictures.
However, these photos were taken on a Friday.
More precisely, they were taken on a Friday afternoon, after work. Yes, this is what I wear to work. It really isn’t so different from what I wear at weekends…
Well, since we’re on full disclosure mode, I only worked till noon that day. But it was after a very long week. And I’d slept very little the night before and got up before 6 am. To say I was tired would be an understatement.
But I really wanted to see the new library, and I thought it would be the perfect location to try taking blog photos indoors. You know, big windows etc. And as there was still some daylight (sunset is just after 3), we decided to go for it.
Looking at the photos, you’d never guess it was actually quite crowded in the library that day. Trust me, it wasn’t easy to find an empty spot. As soon as we started taking photos, people seemed to appear out of nowhere and we had to wait for them to pass. That’s what it’s like shooting blog photos in a public place: you try to get that perfect shot while trying to avoid getting other people in the frame. That usually means shooting about 258 photos and then posting only 3 of them…

Love your palette – wine grey black.
I don’t think the average person understands how difficult it is to get good blog pictures. Logistics alone can be so challenging. I kind of like shooting where there are people around, but some of my friends who take pictures for me are not so comfortable with that. And forget about tripod selfies with a remote, that Is just hell. Ha ha.
Lucky you, Leaving work early! Have a nice weekend.

Yes, taking blog photos has its challenges, for sure: other people around, lighting, the weather… It’s easier in summer, of course.
mwaha, I understand pretty well the problems of having your pictures taken in a public space, where people go up and down. Mr.A. is also my photographer/husband and he’s not always available (work!). So sometimes I take pictures by myself, using a timer. It’s particularly ridiculous when people stare at me or offer their assistance!
I love that you found a fab background to take pics of a working-girl outfit. Love the glass building and the ligthing!. You look comfy&cool in this fab color combo and the cute cardigan!

Thanks,
Yes, the challenge is real… As an added challenge, as it’s winter, we have very little daylight (about 5-6 hours a day), and it’s getting cold, too… I really need to look for locations for indoor photos.
Love your outfit. It’s everything I would wear. I especially like your cardigan. I don’t have a blog but when we go on vacation, I do find it hard to get good pics in public places especially if we are in a crowded area. Most people are nice and if they see you trying to take a pic, they wait until we are finished and then walk by. Also, like you said, the lighting is tricky too. As far as what I wore to work ( I don’t work any more) – I started out working for a law firm and they were very conservative and I had to wear dresses or suits mostly but then later, I started working for a sole practitioner and the rules changed. He didn’t have many clients who visited our office so I could wear anything I wanted to except jeans. I found it easier to dress more casually. It was so much more comfortable too. I found a lot of casual but nice pieces to wear and had more choices. Arlene from US

Yes, taking photos when there are a lot of people around… It’s not just having other people in the pictures; it’s also whether those other people want to be in the pictures. I’m a bit vary of having people in my blog photos, unless their faces are blurred. It’s a privacy issue, too.
I’m lucky as I work as a teacher I can wear anything I like. Also, the dress code in Finland is super casual: everyone wears jeans or some sort of athleisure, everywhere.
I just love this outfit and the library . I dress similarly on a Friday at work .

Thanks. You have ‘casual Friday’? We have ‘casual every day’, just about anywhere. It’s easier to feel overdressed than underdressed at work because (almost) anything goes.
You look stunning in this outfit! You reall came, saw and won with this look! happy holidays. Thanks for joining the linkup.
I’m much more comfortable shooting photos in public places now than I used to be – or I should say less uncomfortable. I think my husband feels a bit silly taking them too but sometimes needs must. If I have to get photos done and I’m working long days I have to do them in the piazza outside. Luckily my husband works at the same place so we can pop out and quickly take some photos, but they are often not the best quality. I love your long cardigan, it looks really soft and cosy. Gorgeous colour too. Thanks for linking up!
