How to glam up a denim pencil skirt?
Well, I could wear it with this old silk kimono (you’ve seen it before HERE), add a few necklaces and a wide belt. Yes, that might work…
I suppose I could wear this kimono with a simple black pencil skirt, or black trousers, but I prefer a bit more of a rock and roll / punk vibe. Therefore, I also added a few accessories to give this outfit a slightly tougher edge: the studded belt and the leather and chain necklaces provide a nice contrast with the delicate silk.
I think it’s important to make any outfit your own, in the sense that it should reflect your personality. For example, anything soft and silky and delicate scares me a bit: it’s a bit too sweet and girly for my taste (but I love seeing it on other people). Maybe, deep down, I’m just a rock chick…

Love, love this combination of denim and silk! You look fantastic, xoxPattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thanks, Patti!
I admit to not having a clue about kimonos so I leave advanced items like that to you and your fellow fashion-masters. It's natural that you don't like outfits too girly because you are, in a word, TOUGH. A tough woman. If I ever get in trouble, I hope you'll be there to start swingin…
Yes, I'm a tough woman…
Oooh…loving this take on a belted kimono! bisousSuzanne
I've had the kimono for years, don't wear it very often, though. Maybe I should wear it more.
I really like how you styled it with the black studded belt and the way you mixed necklaces, Tiina! Beautiful kimono, and you made it your own! I only have a kimono style dress and kimono style cardigan, so I haven't tried to style a kimono blouse/jacket yet. I guess I'm waiting to find what suites my personality. 🙂
Thanks, Natalia! I'd love a kimono style dress, that sounds perfect.
I love the way you personalised this outfit!
Thanks, Nancy!
Love this kimono, is very chic! Great choice! *_*Lunahttp://www.fashionsnobber.com
Thanks, Luna!
I was very surprised to see the kimono came from Mango. I thought it was really expensive. Good choice and perfect styling. I am going to try a belt too. Although… I don't have your hourglass figure..Hmmm maybe not such a good idea for me after all.Greetje
Yes, I was amazed, too, as I don't often buy anything by Mango (I hate 'fast fashion', and can't stand polyester). And it's silk! Every now and then there a little gem to be found, even in fast fashion…
Love the kimono very nice on with the belt, looks great with the denim skirt. I dont have a kimono but like how they look on others. Thanks for linking up with Turning heads tuesdayjess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thank you, Jessica.
What a great idea to belt the kimono—sometimes I wonder how I don't think of these things myself?? It looks perfect!jodiewww.jtouchofstyle.com
Thanks, Jodie. I always wear a belt with something like this, otherwise the kimono would make me look twice my size!
Your kimono is so pretty! I love how it looks belted!JillDoused In Pink
Thanks, Jill!
