“Minimalist does maximalism“, that’s how I could describe this outfit, I suppose. In a way this is the opposite of my last post (where the coat was the focus of the outfit) in the sense that now it’s the coat that becomes the backdrop to some high-impact red accessories.
And there’s a lot going on here: some pattern mixing with stripes and florals, glam leopard print sunnies, studded gloves, colour blocking and a scene-stealing diva colour (red / burgundy).
Red is, always has been and always will be, my colour. Not only because it’s probably the colour that best suits my natural colouring, but also because it’s my power colour.
Yes, when in doubt, wear red… Works for me. If I want to make sure to look my best, I wear something red (or hot pink or fuchsia ). It’s amazing how it instantly makes my pallid, paler-than-pale skin look glowing and radiant. Talk about an instant confidence boost…
By the way (in case you’re wondering), I really do look this pale year round, and no amount of sunshine is going to fix that (mainly because I tend to avoid exposure to sun as I burn quite easily). And no, I don’t really wear much makeup, just some powder and lipstick. For starters, I’m totally clueless when it comes to make-up, and second, I’m way too lazy. So, my solution is to wear bright colours next to my face…
And blue, then… Well, that’s what I wear instead of neutrals (it’s so much kinder to my pallid, paler-than-pale skin than beige or black). Of course, this coat is a rather vivid shade of cobalt, giving the red some fierce competition. And that’s why this is certainly not a minimalist look, even though I’ve kept the outfit simple and casual.

So, this is the last post in my 3-part ‘Classic Coat’ series. Isn’t it great that one coat can be so versatile? Which one of these looks is your favourite?
