I just realised I’ve been to Germany twice this year (I visited Munich just last month)… Well, Germany is Hubby’s home country, so we visit quite often. And last weekend was one of these short visits.
Anyway, Professor M had a meeting or something in Hannover (yes, I’m using the German spelling here) on Friday, and I tagged along. You know, to do some sightseeing. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans…
It was the worst kind of weather for sightseeing: miserable and cold, with wet snow. Now, being a Finn, I’m used to cold weather and snow, but I really hate that 0 °C weather. You know, when the snow turns into slush as soon as it hits the ground. Flu weather, that’s what I call it. Because it’s not snow and it’s not rain but something in between, and it makes you cold and wet and miserable.
And I always catch a cold then. And this time was no exception. Yes, remember the flu I had just a while ago? Well, it came back, with a vengeance… Or maybe it’s another flu. Who knows, apparently there are so many flu viruses going around (but why do I have to catch them all???). In any case I’ve been battling another flu since Friday. But I’m digressing here…
So, I had a few hours in Hannover, on a really cold and miserable day. Naturally, I grabbed my camera and went for a walk.
Hey, I’m a Finn, remember? I won’t let a little bit of sleet get in the way.
Yes, I know what you’re thinking: this would have been the perfect day to visit a museum, go shopping, do anything indoors (especially as I’d just got over a nasty flu…). Guess what, the thought never even crossed my mind. I wanted to get the feel of the place, like I always do, by walking around more or less aimlessly. In hindsight, it wasn’t the best idea, but how was I supposed to know having just been ill with the flu doesn’t mean you’re immunized against another one?
I’m so over winter… Hey, Mother Nature, isn’t it time for spring soon?!?

Love the pics! I am convinced we are twins, separated at birth (by many years and miles), with you getting all the talent!
Thank you! That is so sweet of you.
Oh girl, never in a million years would I have been outdoors in that weather. Shopping in a big department store and having cappuccinos. That would have been me. Take care. Hope you fight this one off very soon.Greetje
To tell you the truth, my walk wasn't very long, so I had plenty of time for cappuccinos, too…
Oh let s hope it s getting warmer soon! Can t take to long can it?
Oh yes, I'm so ready for spring…
Gorgeous photographs and I do admire you for braving the snow. I'm not very comfortable with the cold. Sure,I jumped around like a happy kid when it snowed on the first day of Spring…but it is easy for me to do that, I live in the warmest city in this part of Europe and here it snows like once in a five years so it is hard to get bored of snow. We did have our fair share of cold, it was freezing and windy today. Fortunately I managed to avoid getting the cold or at least I hope I did.I hope you feel better soon and get over that cold asap.
Thank you. I think winter is definitely too long: snow and ice for 5-6 months a year is a bit too much, even though I should be used to it. But what really annoyed me was that I travelled from the land of ever-lasting winter (as it seems at this point, a.k.a Finland) to central Europe only to be greeted with even worse weather. Oh well, winter will have to end eventually, right?
Oh it's such a shame when the weather ruins your plans. I would have been shopping! Thanks for linking up!Emma xxxwww.style-splash.com
Thanks, Emma. I had time for shopping, too. after my walk…
