Casual Boho Chic

The paisley print silk kimono, take two…

Yes, you’ve seen the silk kimono before, with a pink dress… And yes, I was wearing the same sunglasses and a (different) strand of pearls then, too:

That was the glam version; this one is more casual and subdued. Well, a bit more casual, maybe with just a hint of glam…

The point is, a fringed kimono can go from casual to glam, depending on what you wear with it.

I know: it would probably look good with distressed jeans and a graphic t-shirt, too. But you won’t see that on me: it’s a bit too much boho for my taste. It’s the distressed jeans; that’s just not me. The graphic t-shirt, on the other hand, I think you can never have too many of those.

Anyway, I wanted to put together a bit more sophisticated, yet still casual look, with  more structured elements to contrast with the freewheeling hippie vibe of the kimono. In other words, I decided to treat the kimono as a luxurious piece: something evoking the elegance of the roaring 20’s rather than the 60’s flower children…

That kimono is a fabulous piece to wear over about anything. I like the glam version the best. Do you ever wear something Red? Would t it be great on a red dress too?

I like the glam outfit best, too. I used to wear red all the time when I was younger, it was my go-to colour. I guess I just needed to discover other colours and I stopped wearing red… Recently I've been looking for red clothes again, I guess I'm ready to re-introduce it into my wardrobe.

Very attractive. I know you're calling this casual but I believe this pretty kimono is inherently glam.

I agree. When I first saw this kimono, I thought it was a very glam piece, and that's how I wanted to wear it. It's silk, and the pattern is really pretty, too, and the colour is fabulous… Yes, it's a glam piece.

Thanks. I love pearls. I only ever wear pearl earrings (with my hair, you can hardly see earrings unless they're the size of Christmas tree ornaments…) because I like classic style. And pearl necklaces, so glam…

So pretty, Tiina! I really love the kimono. And that top is so flattering, the cut and the color! Really fabulous! I would, however, totally pair this gorgeous kimono over a tee shirt and distressed boyfriend jeans! Ha! But that's just me. You look lovely the way you have it styled! Thanks so much for linking up with me On the Edge of the Week! I hope to see you again next week. Have a marvelous weekend!Shelbeewww.shelbeeontheedge.com

Thanks!I think the kimono would look great over a t-shirt and distressed jeans. Hmm, maybe I could wear it with a denim skirt instead of jeans?
