Hello, my name is Tiina and I’m addicted to trench coats…
Yes, I have a short, blue one, and a longer one in black leather, and even a classic Burberry trench… And now I have a trench made of wool, for autumn and winter. Well, depends on your definition of winter, of course… As a Finn, I’m no stranger to heavy-duty winter wear, and this coat is about as far from it as possible. But I’m sure I’ll get a lot of wear out of it, nevertheless.
Anyway, I’d been stalking this coat online for a while, and then I saw that it had sold out… Except for the Covent Garden Hobbs, which seemed to be the only shop in London that still had it. So, that was my first stop last Saturday. I call that ‘grab-and-go’ shopping: know where you’re going, get the coat, and get the hell out of there as soon as possible.
Would it surprise you if I said that I actually hate shopping?
And by shopping I mean wasting hours looking for something that does not seem to exist, and trying on dozens of ill-fitting / poorly constructed / oddly-shaped garments that seem to serve no practical purpose whatsoever. I hate crowded places, and I can’t stand over-eager shop assistants pestering me when I just want to look around and hiding from me when I have a question to ask…
Why not shop online, then?
It’s a good question, and I have an even better answer. In the U.K, we’ve had too many parcels getting lost, or delivered to ‘a neighbour’ (without a name and address, just try tracking them down…) and in Finland I have been told more than once to go to a ‘depot ‘ in the middle of nowhere to get the parcel I paid to have delivered (that’s just not going to happen, I don’t have a car; besides, if I paid for a delivery, then I expect to get the delivery, even if it requires me yelling at someone on the phone)… So, no, I will only shop online if I can get the parcel delivered to my local post office, thank you very much.
Given what I just told you it’s a miracle that I manage to buy any new clothes at all. Well, I hate shopping (i.e. looking for something specific), but I don’t mind browsing (i.e. just killing time in a shop, checking if they have anything interesting). And I saw this coat about a month a go. Why I didn’t get it then and there is beyond me. Probably I was on my way somewhere, had a lot of stuff to carry or was experiencing a momentary cash flow problem (= feeling guilty for spending too much already). Never mind, I got the coat in the end, and now I have yet another trench coat. I’m sure I will wear it a lot.
I’m wearing;
coat: Hobbs / jeans: Next / shoes: Clarks (old) / bag; Chanel /
sunglasses: Dolce and Gabbana / Scarf : Shanghai Tang
Do you love or hate shopping? Let me know in the comments, and be honest…
Tiina

Hello Tiina Addicted to Trench Coats. So happy you and this blue one connected despite the poor odds. It's very beautiful and the warmth is an extra bonus.
Thanks, Marea, I'm happy I got the coat, too.
You wear a lot of trench coats because you look so damn chic in them. It's a good addiction.
Thanks, Connie. Trench coats are just so easy: they go with anything, and they usually travel well.
I'm kinda with you when I'm shopping for something very specific and can't find it. It becomes frustrating and not fun at all. Going without any preset goals though…that is entirely different and why I love thrifting and vintage shopping. This is another stellar addition to your collection.bisousSuzanne
Yes, shopping without goals, that's fun! That's how I do most of my shopping, should probably stick with no-goal shopping and just buy the 'perfect' piece whenever I see it. It would be so much less frustrating.
A harmless addiction, I say – and you always look fabulous wearing one of your trenches. Love the color of this one – a great addition. xo-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Yes, quite harmless, except for my bank account… I do have to limit myself, seriously. I could so easily have a wardrobe full of trench coats…
I'm not surprised you like trench-coats since you're a secret agent. Oh, wait… I wasn't supposed to say that in public, was I? Sorry!
Yes, it's my disguise, works well, doesn't it?
Are you also a member of the ATCL? Anominous trenchcoat lovers……I love to shop but have to say , i like online shopping more and more.www.fashionandfoodandotherstuff.com
I think i should be a member, for sure… I would love to shop online, just that it hasn't worked at all so far. Well, shopping is OK, it's the delivery that is always a nightmare. In the U.K. we've had to chase a few parcels that we delivered to a wrong address (a few were never recovered) and in Finland It seems impossible to agree on a date and time, without yelling at someone on the phone first and threatening to cancel the order… I really don't need the stress.
You are the perfect poster girl for trenches as you just look so damn fine in them! And what a colour and yes, what were you thinking when you didn't buy it when you saw it??? Did you have a temperature that day??? Anyway a happy ending and it's now in the right hands. Just a gorgeous colour.Browsing – I'm Queen of browsing. Shopping – I enjoy when I find what I want (but that doesn't often happen!).http://petitesilvervixen.blogspot.co.uk
Thanks, dear! I loved this colour. Yes, what was I thinking?!? A temporary mental disorder no doubt.
Not a bad addiction to have , especially when you always look so stylish in your trench coats. This one is no exception , such a beautiful colour on you. After all the searching enjoy every wear.
Thanks! I really seem to like trench coats, I could get one every few months, and I'd like to have one in every colour…

Thanks, Jess!

Thanks, Nicole!
Beautiful coat. Very becoming (nice word). Indeed you will get a lot of wear out of it. In London (I presume).GreetjePS I love shopping. I shop so much I never need to shop for anything specific (terrible, isn't it?)
Thanks, Greetje. Yes, I'm sure I will wear the coat a lot, though maybe not in Finland in mid-winter…I like your way of shopping, much nicer than desperately looking for that one, specific item.
Thanks for stopping by the link-up I co-hosted with Linda from a Labour Life. I love the trench and the colour 🙂 Hope to see you again next week 🙂
Thank you. The colour was what caught my eye first: it's just perfect for me.
La couleur de ce trench est magnifique !
Je suis d'accord. Merci, Nadine!
