What should I wear with my new bag?

40+ wrap dress

I’ve featured this dress on the blog twice already…

Yes, it’s one of my favourites, wrap dresses are perfect for work etc… Never mind all that. The star of this post is the bag.

To celebrate my favourite season, autumn, I got myself a new work bag. And I went for a smaller one. Yes, my dear reader, this is what I call a small bag for work. No, I’m not one of those women who routinely carry everything but the kitchen sink with them. But I am a teacher: I carry a lot of paper…

But now I’ve decided to downsize and I got the smallest bag I could imagine for work. And because all my clothes and accessories have to multitask, this one will also double as a carry-on for flights. It’s roomy enough for me to toss my small Chanel bag into (Chanel never travels in the hold…) as well as a few magazines, the iPad, iPhone and all the other stuff that should not be packed into a suitcase.

Furla bag

The only problem now is that I’m not sure what to wear with my pretty new bag… Yes, this is my way of saying that I need some new clothes, of course. But first I will see how it looks like with some of the clothes I already have in my wardrobe, starting with this dress. Pink and green is such a fresh colour combo, don’t you think? Well, technically the dress has a pink and green pattern on a navy blue background…

By the way, isn’t it just perfect that someone had marked the spot for me to stand on for this photo shoot?

Boden dress

I’m wearing:

wrap dress: Boden (seen before HERE and HERE) / bag: Furla / shoes: Ecco / sunglasses: Chanel

What’s your favourite colour combo for autumn?

Ha, I love your way of thinking, "buy a new bag and then add the wardrobe to match". Although this dress is the perfect match and knowing you, there are probably a whole lot more in your closet just screaming to be paired with that amazing bag. Great purchase!

Yes, I have to admit I often plan the entire outfit around a bag. Or sunglasses…And you're right: I will be showcasing more looks with this bag…

You look lovely in your wrap. And such a nice bag. I actually think that this color of pink is almost a neutral. So many colors would look terrific with it. Light earth tones, green of course, black, brown, navy blue would be gorgeous. Go crazy!

Thanks, Connie. That's my challenge for the autumn, then: to put together more outfits to go with this bag.

Ha ha! I need someone to put a big x on the street for me too : ) I love that you buy a bag and then have to buy clothes to go with it. The wrap dress is perfect with it. Funny how that works out isn't it?bisousSuzanne

Bags are my weakness, can't resist them. I fall in love with a bag and then realise it goes with nothing in my wardrobe. Or maybe that's just a very elaborate way to justify more clothes shopping…

Small? I could live a week out of a bag this size. 🙂

Thanks! I have a few 'work bags', in different colours and sizes, to match my outfits or to fit the amount of stuff I need to cart around on a given day.

Your bag is lovely. It's such a subtle shade of pink that it could go with so many other colours. Love your flattering wrap dress too.

Ha, ha, love the X marks the spot! What a great dress and as to the bag, well, it's a versatile colour. It will go will many things as it's a subtle colour. Great choice.

Thanks! Yes, the X was very handy. I love this pale pink but would never wear it around my face, so a bag in that colour works better.

What to wear with that luscious bag? Whatever you want!!! Gorgeous. I always have my stuff to carry … Kindle, phone, inhalers. chopsticks … you know what I mean. Great dress and pretty pics of you, too!

Thanks, Jan. I always try to carry as little as possible (I walk a lot, so I literally carry my stuff…), and my off-duty bags tend to be smaller. But for work, well, it's a lot of paper I carty around…

I like the blush color of your purse. I don't want to stop you from shopping but this blush is a pretty neutral color and you can pretty much wear it with anything.Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you Thursday. Alicewww.happinessatmidlife.com

Thanks, Alice. I think the bag will actually go with a lot of items I already have. Maybe that should be my challenge, to see how many outfits I can match it with?

Haha, that spot marking is funny. The bag is very good. I love Furla bags. This colour would also go well with (hold on….): black, brown, blue, burgundy, green. Very daring with red and purple, nice and exciting. So I think you don't really need to buy anything whahaha.Greetje

You might be right: I probably have quite a few items in my wardrobe that would look good with the bag… But it never hurts to try something new, right?
