Casual…
Not casual chic, just casual. Urban casual. As in, wearing a very casual outfit on the city streets…
A very casual outfit is sort of camouflage, hiding in plain sight, flying under the radar… But that’s OK.
Not every outfit is about standing out or making a statement. Sometimes we just want to fit in, or even blend in. It’s tiresome being stylish all the time; even a fashionista needs a day off. You know, when she can be incognito, in disguise, go unnoticed…
We all have days when comfort is top priority, for whatever reason. Perhaps the weather poses a challenge, or all the nice clothes are in the laundry. And sometimes we just can’t be bothered to think about style because we have other things on our mind.
Whatever.
We have things to do and places to be, so we just want to get on with it and not worry about style.
OK, maybe a casual outfit if fine for running some errands. But would I wear this to work? Or to lunch?
Yes, and yes. And I have, both to work and to lunch.
Of course, I work in a very casual environment, in a country where the dress code is extremely flexible (i.e. casual). And no, I did not stand out in any way (in a negative sense) wearing this, either at work or in a nice restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Nobody batted an eyelid.
What does that say about me and my environment? Well, at least one thing: if I want to get noticed, I have to dress up. As in take it up a notch. Or two. Or five…

I think I need a fashionable umbrella now!😂😂😂 Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks, Nancy!
I agree with Nancy. Your umbrellas are so good. They always add something to your outfit. I only have plain black or blue ones. But … as the cat peed on three of them (territory thing and she is female… talking about equal rights here.. the femininist), I will have to buy new ones. Maybe I will go more daring this time. And you know how to take an outfit up a notch or two or five as well.Greetje
I used to have only black umbrellas, but I kept losing them. I just left them in shops and at work… Then I started getting nicer umbrellas, and now I seem to take better care of them. Crazy, huh?Maybe your cat is trying to tell you something. Maybe she wants to see pretty, colourful umbrellas 😉
We all have those days when only casual will do that's why I love a coat it hides a multitude. I too admire your fancy umbrella collection , they must make rainy days more fun.
Thanks, Jill. There are so many grey, rainy days this time of the year, and a pretty umbrella is an easy way to add some fun…
