transitional dressing: winter to spring

winter to spring
It’s almost spring…

Well, it was a bit warmer for a couple of days. And by ‘a bit warmer’ I mean it was above zero. In other words, warm enough to ditch my omnipresent puffer jacket in favour of a wool coat.

Although, truth be told, by now I’m ready to throw away all my puffer jackets. Or at least hide them at the back of the closet. I’m so tired of them and tired of winter.

But given that Mother Nature can be a bit unpredictable, or moody, or just a mean bitch, I might hold off on that still… After all, it’s only late February; it might well start snowing again next week.

No, I’m not being negative; just realistic. March is still a winter month in Finland, though with a lot more sunshine and daylight. Which actually makes it worse; the increasing daylight always makes me long for warmer weather and eager to try on some spring clothes. And then there’s usually a big snowstorm to bring me back to reality…

In any case, I want to enjoy this temporary respite (from the cold, snow and sleet) while it lasts.

Thanks, Jill. Yes, I’m so over winter, and I hate all my winter clothes by now. I can’t wait for spring…

I totally understand that you feel tired of puffer coats, as they’re such uninspiring clothes!, but we have to keep them in hand as they’re practical too!. It’s lovely to see you in your wool coat indeed, it’s a fantastic coat and you look fabulous in it!, elegant and cool!
I’ve been wearing spring clothes for a while, even summer clothes with some serious layering. It makes me feel that my wardrobe is wider, because many possibilities are available!

Well, I don’t find puffer coats uninspiring, really; I’m just tired of them. Winter lasts way too long…
It must be a great feeling to be able to wear spring and summer clothes, I’m envious. We still have some snow on the ground! But at least it’s above zero degrees…

Love your coat! I wish I could find a coat like that. I don’t see anything like it in the stores here in the US. I am so sick of winter by now. Today was the worst weather – high winds (55 miles an hour!). I stopped at a local grocery store for a few items and almost got knocked over in the parking lot. I understand how you feel about winter. Ugh I’m ready for some spring right now! Cheers from Arlene in NJ

Thanks, Arlene! This coat is by Sand Copenhagen, from last autumn. Very classic Nordic style…
I’m so ready for spring, too, it can’t come soon enough…

Your Winter sounds so harsh. Is it terrible to say as much as I’m enjoying this weirdly warm weather here in England – I’m kind of missing the last of Winter – it doesn’t feel right. Still loving the ease of it though! xx Maria xx

Yes, winter can be harsh, and long. But the warm summer with midnight sun makes up for it.

What a cosy looking grid print coat! I’m glad you got to enjoy a little bit of warmer weather! 🙂

Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp 🙂

Hope that your week is going well so far 🙂 We are having some much needed cooler weather after what felt like a never ending heatwave! It’s summer here in Australia at the moment.

Thank you! Well, warmer weather comes and goes… Winter is not over yet.
But I can relate to how you feel about the heatwave, too. Last summer we had quiet a heatwave, and we actually had to stay in a hotel for a few days because our flat was getting unbearably hot (no air conditioning…). It seems the weather is never ‘just right’, is it?

It’s funny that in cold climate we say it’s almost sprint when the temperatures are just in the single negative digits. LOL. Or when we see that the snowpack seems to get smaller day by day despite it doesn’t melt, but the snow sublimates and the snowpack warms up. Sorry, it’s the nerdy scientist in me who is so excited about seeing the snow metamorphism. Anyhow, you look stunning in this coat. Somehow the coat looks so freindly and fun on you.

I hear you… We start talking about spring as soon as sun makes an appearance, never mind the temperature. And we’ve had some really sunny, but cold days…
      Thanks, Nicole!
