On 1 May the weather was quite nice: the sun was shining and it was a pleasant 14ºC / 57ºF. In other words, the perfect spring day. And hubby and I had booked a table at a summer restaurant.
Summer restaurants are only open in the summer months, and often located on the small islands surrounding Helsinki. The food is typical Scandinavian cuisine, ranging from buffet to fine dining depending on the restaurant, but both the atmosphere and dress code are always very relaxed.
So, as the restaurant is on an island, the only way to get there is by boat. No problem: the restaurant has a boat shuttling between the mainland and the island every ten minutes or so ( the actual crossing literally takes just a few minutes).
This particular restaurant is in an old fortress, which is part of the old sea fortress dispersed around several islandsaround Helsinki.

Thanks, Patti!
Beautiful restaurant. I had a look at their site. What I particularly like of your outfit is the sweater (silk?? My..) with the scarf and bag. Very elegant.Greetje
Thanks, Greetje. yes, the sweater is silk, wonderful, isn't it? The restaurant is quite small, but it's a unique place for sure, part of the cluster of fortress islands surrounding Helsinki.
The silk sweater is beautiful and goes perfectly with the colorful scarf. The idea of Summer restaurants appeals to me greatly: I like things that emphasize the transitory nature of life. We delude ourselves into believing there is permanence.
I love summer restaurants, not least because they're usually located on islands. so, you get out of the city, in 5-15 minutes…
I love your scarf, that is gorgeous. I dont wear scarves much, but the print caught my eye. Love you in red as well. My favorite thing to do during spring is to sit outside, enjoy the sun and have lunch. Looked like a beautiful day! Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!jess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thanks, Jessica. I wear a lot of scarves, as they quite practical. I often feel I want something around my neck to protect me from the cold wind or draft, and a scarf is easy to add.
