The Linen Shirt, One More Time

40+ summer outfit

Summer is (almost) over…

As far as I’m concerned, September marks the beginning of autumn. Sure, the weather might still be quite nice and summery, but it is certainly getting a  bit more unpredictable. So, while it makes little sense to buy summer clothes this time of the year (unless you’re thinking about next summer already), it’s a bit too early for ‘transitional dressing’. After all, we should make the most of the last summer days, enjoying the warm weather while we can.

So, this is the time to bring out those summer favourites for one last outing before they’re packed away. I’m talking about the clothes that evoke long, lazy days and fun in the sun… The clothes that won’t be part of your autumn, or even ‘transitional’ wardrobe.

In that spirit, this is the last outing of the very practical linen shirt this year. Yep, you won’t be seeing it again, until next summer. Maybe. Who knows what I’ll feel like wearing in a year’s time?

Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses

I’m wearing:

linen shirt: Marks and Spencer / trousers: Marks and Spencer / shoes: Van Dal /

sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana / bag: Adolfo Dominguez / necklace: Hirst Antiques

When does autumn start in your opinion?

I love linen shirts, and this one looks great on you, Tiina. We have about two more months of hot weather ahead, so I am a little jealous of seeing the fall stuff come out. xox

Thanks, Patti. I love autumn, never been much of a summer (or winter) person.

I agree that September is the turning point, at least here in NY. The way you tie your shirt is cute.

Thanks. Maybe it's also how we perceive time: my year seems to start in autumn. Maybe it's the start of a school year…

I have the same thoughts – wear the linen shirts and summer dresses while it's still warm. Though it's windy and stormy here today. Beautiful shirt, Tiina!

I love linen but don't currently own a linen shirt. I am sure I would be wearing it now if I did. You look cool and chic in yours. As Nathalia says, the region we live in is experiencing some storms and the temps have dropped roughly ten degrees. I don't mind though and find that by this time I am already missing some of my cooler weather clothes. Spring and Autumn tend to be my favourite seasons as I like mild temps and at least two layers to my outfit. Hurray for cardigans and closed to shoes. xo

Oh, we expect the temperature to drop any minute… Autumn is just around the corner, and I love it! Autumn is my favourite season, I just wish it would last longer. I prefer the milder temperatures, too, and the darker evenings and autumn colours…
