It was just a brief moment…
How long the milder weather lasted, that is. It almost felt like spring. OK, so it was still -4 or something, but the sun was shining, and the big winter coat I’ve been wearing most of the time felt way too hot. Especially since I was going ‘shopping’. Or whatever passes for shopping these days…
Yes, about shopping… I haven’t really been shopping (for clothes, that is) for ages. I hate shopping in winter, I always have, even before Covid. It’s just so tedious trying something on when you’re wearing something that makes you look like the Michelin man. I’m talking about the bulky outerwear, of course: the coat, the gloves, the shoes, the scarf… What I wear underneath the bulky outerwear is less of a problem: I don’t like layering, nor is it necessary (houses in Finland are really warm). I usually just wear a long-sleeved t-shirt or a pullover.
Still, if I want to try something on, getting undressed first is a lengthy process. And I get so damn hot walking around the department store, looking for something I’d like to try on to begin with! And then there’s the mask… I’m so tired of having to wear one. Yet another thing that makes me feel uncomfortable.
But of course I’ll continue wearing a mask, in shops, and on public transport, as recommended (Note: in Finland, wearing a mask is recommended, not mandatory)
Anyway, on this particular day, it was a bit warmer (yes, -4 feels a lot warmer after a few days of -18), and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to ‘dress up’ a bit, and display some of my favourite statement accessories.
I think we’ve reached the point in winter when I’m so bored with my entire (winter) wardrobe that I just want to get rid of everything. But of course I won’t (because it will be a while still before winter is over, for starters). So, wearing something other than my normal ‘cold weather uniform‘ feels liberating, even if it’s just for a brief moment.

Love the coat, gloves and purse! Fun for a change isn’t it? We don’t get super cold weather but I can see how you would be sick and tired of the same big coat and layers to stay warm.

Thanks, Mireille! Yes, I’m starting to miss dressing up a bit more and wearing nice clothes, all I need is the weather to cooperate.
Love that bag and those gloves are really pretty! Yes, I am sick and tired of winter! We’ve had more snow this year than usual. One storm after the other! It gives me cabin fever even if I have nowhere urgent to go. I bet you felt really great changing into that coat and wearing those beautiful accessories. It seems like so long ago that I actually gave accessories a thought! That’s crazy. Enjoy your day! Arlene from NJ

Oh yes, winter: I don’t know which is worse, the extreme cold or the icy streets when the snow is thawing. Can’t wait for spring to arrive, or life to get back to normal, whichever comes first…
I feel bad for you. I love cold weather! I’m here in Arizona with 70 degree weather!

Wow, that’s summer weather for me! Oh well, it’s just a matter of time (or so I keep telling myself)…
The past few days of icy rain have made me long for spring (not least because the whole family of ours have winter holiday this week). Yesterday I even decided to be optimistic about spring and washed my down coat. We will see, if that was a bad move or not.
Your woollen coat looks really nice. And it is a nice feeling to be able to change into something lighter even if for a day or two. The downside of remote working suburb life style is that you don’t really need to leave anywhere. I’d almost forgotten, that I have also woollen coats I’d wear occasionally. Thanks for the reminder. -q

I think it will be a while still before spring is here. But yes, I’m aching to wear something lighter, brighter and new.
You look beautiful in these photos, Tina! I adore that bag. I much prefer shopping when the weather isn’t so cold. MInd you, I live in Portugal so the ‘cold’ weather here is probably similar to your spring / summer lol!

Thanks! It’s not cold weather as such that bothers me. I can handle the cold outdoors. But wearing all these bulky, warm clothes when browsing in a department store makes me a walking bundle of sweat and I just want to leave. And I can’t even think of trying something on: getting out of my bulky clothes in the fitting room is too much of an effort.
I love that coat! Do people come up to you and want to touch it? It makes me want to reach out and touch it!

Thanks! Haha! That would be nice. Yes, the material is very tactile, looks warmer than it is, though (living by the sea I’m beginning to realise that protection from the wind is what I really need).
Just love that handbag. Iām looking forward to Spring and getting rid of my mask.

Thanks! I’m so ready to get rid of the mask. But I’m afraid it will be longer than spring until that happens.
I hear you and I agree on all of this, Tiina! Although I did go shopping a lot this past weekend with my sister. Having a shopping companion definitely made the mask wearing more tolerable. But I am so over all of it, too. I did just get a coat that is very similar to yours in this post except it is predominantly red instead of navy. I really like all the details on your fabulous accessories, too. Your gloves and bag are really unique and fun! Thanks for linking with me.

Thank you!
Yes, I think we’re all just very tired of Covid19 and all the restrictions. I can’t wait for things to get back to normal, whatever ‘normal’ means then.
Beautiful coat and bag! I get really hot shopping in a coat too, although I’ve only been food shopping for a few months – I’m looking forward to clothes shops reopening in a few weeks! Thanks for linking up!

Thanks, Emma.
All shops have been open here all the time (and hairdressers, too), but people are expected to wear masks. And most people do (although there are always people who think such rules are not for them…). Still, I try to avoid shops when they are crowded.
Such a fun statement bag and I like the colourful coat too! š We are lucky the weather doesn’t get too cold here in winter! š I do find myself feeling a bit bored and uninspired with my wardrobe choices at the end of each season though, although I really don’t need to buy more, I have more than enough, I always get the itch after a season of wearing what I already have!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!
Hope you’re having a good weekend š It’s a relaxing and quiet one here.

Thanks, Mica! I can definitely relate to the end of season boredom: I’m so uninspired by my wardrobe at the moment that I would just like to get rid of it all. But that’s just the tail end of winter getting to me, I guess. Can’t wait for warmer weather.
