A Spring day by the sea…
Summer restaurants are open again, and it’s time to head to the seaside to enjoy the warm sunshine, feel the gentle sea breeze on your face, and listen to the sound of waves hitting the shore…
Oh, wait…
I think Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. I mean, she wouldn’t get me totally drenched on purpose, would she?
Actually, come to think of it, maybe she would. Between you and me, Mother Nature can be a real bitch. Besides, it’s not summer yet: we should expect some spring showers. Although, I have to say that Mother Nature’s idea of a spring shower is more like a deluge, but who am I to judge…
Anyway, that’s what I told my husband when he said it was finally summer. That it’s still spring, I mean, not what I think about Mother Nature… He insisted that summer starts when summer restaurants open. I said that in Finland summer starts on 1 June.
That’s because we know that Mother Nature is a bitch, and that she likes to play tricks on us, but we refuse to play her little guessing game and simply put it in the calendar. When summer starts, that is. That’s why Kesäkuu (= June in Finnish) has the word summer (= kesä) in it. Hah, take that Mother Nature! Your can’t confuse us!
But now it’s still May, and spring showers are OK. But let’s not go overboard with the whole shower thing, OK? So, Mother Nature, do we have a deal?

anyway, your spring outfit is fab, perfectly comfy and cool!, love your umbrela and scarf combo and your elegant accessorizing!. And obviously I love your rain coat and your fabulous attitude!
I have some light trenches and a rain coat which is pretty useful when it rains (downpurs actually) in spring. My problem is picking the right pair of shoes, as waterproof shoes are usually too warm.
besos
downpours!

Thanks! Yes, finding proper footwear can be difficult. I prefer some sort of sneakers as they have thick soles. And they’re also better for walking on uneven or slippery surfaces (like these rocks) than rain boots. But I also have two pairs of rain boots, for heavy rain. They’re very good, but they tend to make feet feel a bit sweaty…
Hope Mother Nature does play the game and Summer arrives on June 1 and in the meantime the deluge changes to Spring showers. At least you have the perfect rain coat and umbrella for the weather.

Thanks, Jill.
Mother Nature doesn’t always stay on schedule: I remember many very cold and rainy early June days. Even sleet! But, to be fair, I also remember many very warm April days… So, Mother Nature is just moody, and who knows what mood she’ll be this year on June 1st. Therefore, it’s good to have that as the start of summer in the calendar. Then we at least know what season it it, even if there’s sleet..
You look great in your raincoat and your umbrella is so cute! It’s been raining here for days. No, it’s been pouring here day and night! I’ve just been wearing slip on style sneakers and hoping they’re good enough. I do have a pair of rain boots but never wear them. I find them too clunky and they hit my shins every time I take a step. Very annoying. Why does that happen? Anyway, you look prepared for the rain. Have a great day! Arlene from NJ

Thanks, Arlene.
Yeah, I wonder why they call it spring ‘showers’ when spring ‘it’s raining cats and dogs like it’s the end of the world’ would be more accurate.
I know what you mean about rain boots. I always wear long socks with them, otherwise I get a rash where the boots hit my shins.
This is a lovely rainy day styling, love your umbrella. We had our fair share of rain as well. These spring instead of spring summer we have raining cats and dogs autumn it seems.

Thanks you. Yes, the weather has been a bit moody, to say the least. But it seems to be getting better now, at least here.
Thanks for sharing on the #linkup – hope the weather has improved for you Tiina, Jacqui Mummabstylish

Thanks, Jacqui! Yes, the weather has improved; we’ve had lovely warm weather for a while. But you know how it is: it never lasts for long…
