Is that really… It can’t be… Can it?
YES!!!!! The sun is out! It’s spring!!! Almost, anyway. Who cares? The sun is out!!! It’s spring!
Sorry, it’s been a long winter… We Finns tend go a bit crazy in spring: suddenly we seem happy, talk to strangers, smile…
So, to celebrate what felt like the first day of spring (must be the sun; it certainly wasn’t very warm…), I decided to take my new shoes out for a spin. I just needed to find a spot where most of the snow had already disappeared…
And of course I had to see if the shoes go with some of my favourite accessories…
The result is a hotchpotch of patterns and colours: stripes and checks and florals. And a little bit of leopard and some bright colour thrown into the mix. This is ‘extreme pattern mixing’. It’s as if a crazy woman was let loose on my wardrobe…
I did say we tend to go a bit crazy at the first sign of spring, didn’t I? Well, this is what it looks like…
Outfit details:

Is it already spring in your neck of the woods?

Wow!! Lots of patterns yet everything seems to work together. How did you do that? About Spring: It was fairly nice here yesterday with a bit of sun in the afternoon. The temps are not as warm as I would like but it’s certainly not freezing here. Enjoy the weather! Arlene from NJ

Thanks, Arlene. Wearing something in neutral colours is a good way to tone things down when you’re wearing a lot of patterns or accessories in brighter colours. For me, navy is a ‘neutral’ (it suits my natural colouring much better than beige, black or grey). It also ties everything together, so that the mix of patterns isn’t overwhelming.
Your coat looks so nice and warm! Thanks for sharing today on the #linkup. Jacqui Mummabstylish

Thanks, Jacqui! yes, the coat is warm, but unfortunately it doesn’t help much against the wind…
I love all those different prints and think that they work together nicely, they even match each other!. Love the red details all around the outfit and your shoes color matches the leopard print and the subtle beige strip in your coat!. Brilliant accessorizing!
Glad that you’re enjoying some sunshine and springy attitude! (I don’t like spring but some sunny days are welcome!)

Thank you dear! You’re always so sweet.
Yes, the prints match because the dominant colour in the outfit is navy blue (my favourite neutral.Or should I say ‘the only neutral that looks OK on me’). I actually had this bag and these sunglasses in mind when I got the shoes, I thought they might go together. I was looking for white shoes, so it was an impulse purchase.
Spring isn’t my favourite season, either (I love autumn); the unpredictable weather (=sunshine/rain/snow/sleet/whatever) and the dust from the grit used on icy pavements in winter that hasn’t been removed yet and is flying around, and pollen…
That’s a cheery and practical outfit as you look Springlike but still warm. In Scotland we say ‘don’t cast a clout till May is out’ ie don’t leave off warm clothes as the weather is unpredictable. However, it is so tempting as one gets tired of the same combinations. Yesterday I bought a lovely pair of patterned linen trousers, an impulse buy to speed on Summer.

Thanks, Flora!
And what a great idiom! Although, I’m having to resist an urge to spin it to reflect the politics today…
Patterned linen trousers sound interesting; I hope Mother Nature takes a hint.
Great look. That bag is awesome. Great find. It looks like it will go with everything in your closet.

Thanks, Nicole. I’ve had this bag for a couple of years now, and I still love it. It adds a pop of colour to an otherwise plain outfit.
I certainly understand why you celebrate Spring after your long Winter. Everything here works beautifully together because of your base colour. Its fun to add patterns and colours .
Its Autumn down here, my favourite season.

Oh, yes, spring… After months of very short days, the increasing amount of daylight has such an effect on your mood. At the moment we have over 14 hours of daylight, and sunset is later every day. That’s the best thing about spring and summer: daylight hours… However, my favourite season is autumn, too.
I love all of the patterns and that scarf is fantastic! Beautiful print an d color. I can relate to the excitment, although we don’t have the extreme weather here you do.But I love seeing the sun out, it does change my mood!

Thanks, Jess. Yes, sunshine changes the mood. Although, we can have freezing temperatures with brilliant sunshine, too. But now it’s finally getting warmer, too!
Love all the colours and prints! I tend to wear colours year-round but definitely more in the warmer months, it’s fun to add colour with lighter layers in spring 🙂
Hope your week is going well so far 🙂 Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp 🙂

Thanks, Mica! I love wearing colours, too. Navy blue is my ‘neutral’ (beige makes me look sick), it’s so much gentler on my face than black.
