How are you doing? Are you enjoying the lovely spring weather?
Like most people all over the world, Professor M and I have been spending most of our time at home. And we have both been extremely busy working. I think I’ve been even busier now that I’m confined to this small flat most of the time.
And of course working from home brings its own challenges and frustrations, including (but not limited to) various IT-related problems…
So, in order to recover from our long working hours (and frustrations), we often go for a walk in the evening. Observing social distancing, of course, and staying away from other people as much as possible.
Our walks are getting longer and longer… It’s quite funny, actually: I’ve never really spent much time in our own neighbourhood, in spite of having lived here for 20 years. But now I get the feeling that by summer we will get to know the area so well that we could walk around here blindfolded…
When it comes to my outfits, though, I have to admit that I’m not putting much effort into them…
Take this outfit, for example. I hadn’t planned a photoshoot, so this is simply what I was wearing to go for a walk. Not that I dressed specifically to go for a walk, either. Quite the contrary, in fact: the walk took place after a very long (and very frustrating) day full of technical issues, meetings, and course planning. But hey, that’s what real life is like now: you grab the first thing you find in the old wardrobe, forget to put on make up and just go about your life.
I’m sure we’ll get back to more sophisticated outfits eventually. At least I hope there will come a time when I will actually want to get dressed in the morning, or at least put a little more effort into my outfit. But in the meantime, let’s just enjoy the one thing that reminds us of normal life: spring sunshine.

Very cute striped top! I know those frustrations. I have been trying to dress halfway decent each day, some days are more successful than others.

Thanks! Maybe we should cut ourselves some slack: difficult times call for shift in focus. Maybe perfection is overrated…
I am just trying to make a point of putting on pants or jeans each day that remind me of the restrictions that things like buttons and zippers impose on my idle body. If I stayed in lounge wear, things would get out of hand real quickly! Other than that, and making sure that I am clean and somewhat presentable, I can’t say that I am putting a whole lot of thought into my outfits!

That’s a good point. To be honest, I’ve been a bit worried that the we can finally go out in public again, nothing in my wardrobe will fit me anymore…
Wearing lots of joggers with cute graphic tees and still wearing my earrings. I still try to change it up with some skirts here and there when it is a nice warm day. But my lifestyle hasn’t changed much, was at home most of the time before, now just more!

I have exactly one pair of joggers, and I’ve been wearing them almost non-stop. I’m so ready to wear a nice dress, so can’t wait for the weather to get warmer!
Hi I like your striped top! I love stripes. I’m wearing what I always wear – casual tops and jeans/pants. I don’t work any more so I have a daily wardrobe of casual clothing. When we used to be able to go out to dinner, I’d get a little more dressed up but now we are home every day hanging around, going for walks like you do and that’s about it. I started weeding my flower bed today but got fed up with it real fast! Ha Ha!! I’m getting lazy. Glad you are enjoying your walks every day and hope you stay safe and healthy. Arlene from NJ

Well, stripes a great, you can’t go wrong with stripes. Of course, I might be a bit biased, given that I’m a bit addicted to stripes…
I only have casual clothes, too. I’ve never needed any formal clothes (nobody in Finland dresses for work, anything goes ,really). But now it’s getting to a whole new level of casual: I can’t even be bothered to put on some lipstick (and that used to be the one thing I never left home without). And I’m thinking of getting some pyjamas. Not to sleep in but to wear at home, all day…
For working hours I’ve worn mostly a black dress. Yes, a black dress. It is even formal enough to be worn at the office, but a wee bit too short for me to feel comfortable at the office (woven viscose and washing machines *eyerolling*). It has been absolutely perfect for remote days like these and to be honest, it has done good for my spirits to “dress for the work”. Next week I plan to change to a Marimekko shirtdress. After working hours it’s been normal loungewear inside and mostly jeans outside with minimal effort. Not entirely “mökki” style, but very much in careless holiday attire.

PS. If mökki does not ring any bell to you, that is summer cottage in Finnish. Mökki style refers to the Finnish habit to wear the oldest, ugliest and the most worn-out clothes you own while in the summer cottage.

A comfy black dress sounds just perfect.
I think it’s rather difficult to find the balance between ‘smart-enough-for-work’ and ‘casual-but-not-too-casual’ these days. I certainly think my wardrobe is lacking in this respect…
Love how the stripe tops pairs so nicely with those pants. Who would have thought this stay home thing would be such a challenge. Ugh. IT yes, for me it’s having my kids and husband all home taking up the internet. haha! Hope you have a great week!

Thanks!
Yes, working from home may sound like a nice idea, and it might be greta, occasionally, but as the new normal… When several people try to work from home, sharing the same small space, I think it requires a lot more patience than we ever expected. But we adjust…
I love this outfit, Tiina! Those pants are fabulous. They are not only adorable but they look so comfortable. Spring has not yet arrived here. It is snowing right now. And it has been way too cold to enjoy the outdoors. I need some fresh air soon though! Thanks for linking up.

Thank you! We’ve had some snow, too, twice last week. But it disappeared by the evening, fortunately. Now it’s finally starting to look like spring, though. I hope you’ll have some warmer weather, soon, too!
Such a cute striped top! it looks like a great outfit for working from home. I’ve found that I’ve really not dressed up much at all, especially on my work from home days, but I’m trying to make more of an effort to get changed out of loungewear! Not every day I work from home, but the days I have the energy after getting the boys and myself up and organised, haha!
Hope that you had a nice weekend 🙂 Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! A new link up is live on my blog now, I’d love you to join again.

Thanks, Mica!
Well, maybe we should cut ourselves some slack here: so what if we’re wearing loungewear all the time? We’ll get back to the hectic everyday life eventually. We might as well see this as a much-needed break from the chaos we call ‘normal life’; a chance to relax a bit. At least that’s how I choose to see it today.
That’s a great casual outfit! I’ve been in comfy trousers and trainers at home too. I feel like I need to get out for a walk though, running on the treadmill has been my only exercise for the last month! Thanks for linking up!

Thanks, Emma. It’s tough, being cooped up indoors all day, isn’t it? I need to find new ways to get some exercise, too; I haven’t been to the gym for ages. It’s been just a bit of yoga or hula-hoop in my living room, and walks in the neighbourhood.
