Not all outfits are fabulous. Some are just boring, or uninspiring. And some are just…wrong. As in, something just doesn’t feel right. The individual parts that make up the outfit might be great, separately, but put together they just don’t work.
This is one of those outfits. I don’t like it, and I don’t think it works.
It’s the coat. I’ve had this coat forever, and I think it may be time to let it go.
And the scarf… I like this scarf, it goes well with most of my clothes. And it works well with my new cashmere jumper, too. But it doesn’t go with the coat.
Whatever. The outfit is a bit of a miss today. So, let’s admire the view, instead…
Outfit details:
coat: Manuela Conti (old) / cashmere jumper: Repeat / trousers: Marks and Spencer (old) /
scarf: Marja Kurki (old) / bag: Chanel / shoes: Ten Points / sunglasses: Marc Jacobs
location: Uspenski Cathedral, Helsinki
What do you think, hit or miss?
Tiina

I'm sorry you're not happy with this outfit; I love the pairing of this scarf and coat (which I also think is rather special in itself) – and, worn with the red top, they look entirely intentional together to my eye. I suppose maybe the two bold patterns at once might be what bothers you: when your outfit is a step too mixed for your own preferences seems to be when I like the outfit more than you do! Maybe try the coat one more time with a more subdued scarf, though, before you give it up?
Yes, that might be the case, this is probably too much pattern mixing to my taste. A more subdued scarf (and a different colour combination) might be better.
Whats wrong with the coat? I think its because you have it for a while, but I think it s a very nice one.
Well, I sort of like this coat… But I'm also a bit tired of it. I've had it for so many years that I can't even remember. But it's very classic, so… You see the dilemma?
I totally agree with previous comments, your coat looks fine to my eye and I love how it looks mixed with your scarf, lovely mixed patterns and lovely color combo.I would try a different color in the bottom, some kind of caramel color pants. But you know that I'm pretty maximalist! Thanks for the amazing potos!besos
Caramel colour pants? Hmm… That would definitely be something new to me. I tend to buy very neutral trousers (= navy or brown), so I need to get used to that idea. But I do find it intriguing…
You like what you like. So maybe you are just tired of the coat. I love the outfit. I think the scarf with the coat (which I also like) is almost perfect. When I opened the blog post and saw the photo I smiled. And I am not a purple fan. I think you look lovely especially on a fall day. Jean
Yes, I think that's it. I've had the coat for years, and I'm a bit tired of it. Or maybe I just want an excuse to get a new one… Thanks, Jean.
Some days are like that , what we choose to wear doesn't seem to gel. I quite like your coat and the scarf but I tend to agree with you , for me they aren't quite right together. Go with your instincts as to what feels right for you. I did enjoy your scenic shots of the magnificent buildings.
Thanks, Jill. The pictures were taken in the courtyard of the Orthodox Church (the red brick building), which is on a hill, overlooking the Lutheran Church (the white church) on one side and the marina on the other.
I think it looks great! We tend to be so critical of ourselves at times!!Thanks for linking up with the Ageless Style Party!!XOXOJodiewww.jtouchofstyle.com
Thanks, Jodie. I think you're right: we tend to get a bit too critical at times.
I love your outfit. And I'd wear that scarf with that coat myself! 🙂 gwingal
Thank you, Nikki.
I actually like the purple plaid! It's unique but totally appropriate for fall! The scarf works so well with it too! http://www.mylittlenest.org
Thanks, Ruth.Well, it is a very classic coat… Some days I really like it, but on another day I hate it. I'd probably regret if I get rid of it, though…
Great coat, but I know how you feel. I try to store things away (if there's enough space) and get things out again once forgotten about – which isn't very long with my brain. x Love that scarf too = the colours are super bright and bold. Jacquiwww.mummabstylish.com
Thanks, Jacqui.Yes, I sometimes store things away for a while, too. And then I usually forget about them…
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. There is somethings special about this coat. I can't put my finger on what it is. But it looks just perfect on you.
Thanks, Nicole. It's cut like a trench coat. Like most of my coats…
