So, tomorrow, on the 1st of June, some of the Covid 19-related restrictions will be lifted. Bars and restaurants will be open again, just in time for the summer season. Of course, there will still be limits set on the number of people in such places, opening times, alcohol consumption…
What has alcohol consumption got to do with Covid 19, you might ask. Well, this is Finland, it is summer, and the weather is wonderful (which cannot be taken for granted). This combination means that every bar and restaurant (especially those with outdoor seating) will be full, and people will be in the mood to celebrate, not just because of the restrictions being lifted but because it’s summer, and because it’s warm and sunny. Hey, this if Finland; it makes sense. Sort of.
Anyway… the ‘celebrating’ can get a bit out of hand (just remember last year, after the Hockey world Championships…), and alcohol consumption tends to increase in correlation with the temperature.
But let’s talk about the location for this photoshoot: nicknamed ‘Mummotunneli’ (= ‘Granny Tunnel’) because it is very popular with ladies of a certain age, it has a reputation of being the local cougar hunting ground. Or a place where free-spirited Boomers and GenXers (of both sexes) can enjoy a nice dinner, or a drink or two (or five) in a (mostly) Millennial-free zone.
Anyway… This little courtyard (with several shops and restaurants) has never been so empty. But I thought it was the perfect backdrop for my ’emerging-from-the-suburbs’ look: my now-regular athleisure ‘uniform’ of navy and white stripes smartened up with proper shoes (OK, ballerina flats, whatever) a pair of glam sunnies and a city-slick bag…
Outfit details:
poncho: Marja Kurki / dress: Cos (old) / bag: Furla (old) /
shoes: Jenny / sunglasses: Nina Ricci (old)
Are you looking forward to summer?

Thanks! Yes, ‘Mummotunneli’ might be a good place to visit. And Finland certainly is: we have plenty of sunlight: practically around the clock in summer.
Fun location for a photo shoot! The weather is still pretty perfect here (it is supposed to be hotter though at the end of the week so making sure we take advantage of it.
One can never have too many stripes! I have a maxi with a very similar stripe in navy and white.

Thanks! I agree: you can never have too many stripes.
I’m trying to make the most of the great weather we’re having, too. It’s early summer, so not too hot, and plenty of sunshine (so far, at least).
Lovely outfit! I love the navy, white and burgundy. A really smart color combination. Bar & grills reopened here at half capacity May 9th. We live above one. It was rather alarming that first weekend to see the drunks hugging each other. I was glad people were having fun, but they forgot about the virus. Sigh. Fortunately, our cases have not spiked as I suspected they would.

Thank you, Michelle. I find it a bit scary how people can just forget about the restrictions and safety measures all of a sudden, everyone knows the virus is not going to just disappear any time soon. But I guess it’s human; we’re so tired and just want things to get back to ‘normal’ again.
lovely outfit, I have a weakness for breton stripes, and love how you wear your dress in a relaxed but elegant style. Your poncho and cool bag make a difference.
And also lovely background, it sounds really appealing to me particularly because of being a ‘millennial free’ zone. Heavenly!

Thanks! And here I thought I was the only one with a Breton stripe addiction…
Yes, the bars and restaurants in this arcade have traditionally been frequented by a little more mature crowd, but I’m afraid Millennials are starting to make an odd appearance, too…
You have such a chic outfit that I associated the background with next bloc around Kämp before reading the text. I have not even passed through this arcade for ages. But maybe I should in daylight of course (hence the reputation as mummotunneli *laughs*) as it looks also nice.
In a way I’m still waiting for summer even if it is here and now. Nights are light, everything is green and flowering and kids are already on their vacation. But for some reason, I just don’t really understand it yet. Does that happen to you too Tiina? -q

Thank you, that’s so sweet of you. Yes, daylight hours in Mummotunneli, that’s it or me, too (although, now the daylight hours stretch till late at night, of course…).
Oh, I’ve been living in total summer mood for the past two weeks already. As soon a I can go out without a coat or a jacket, it’s summer in my book. What I don’t like is the really hot weather (oddly enough, I suddenly start missing winter then…)
You have a great wardrobe, love the capsule colours. Jacqui Thanks for joining the #linkup

Thanks, Jacqui!
Tiina, this outfit is so adorable! I love the bold stripes on your cute dress and the wrap is perfectly paired with it. So, so good, ballerina flats and all! Things are slowly opening around me as well, but I think I am going to just stay inside until things get closer to normal…whatever that means! Thanks for joining my link party.

Than you! Yes, ballerina flats, my favourite type of shoes in summer…
Sounds like an interesting location and it looks nice in the pictures! I like the striped dress with the striped poncho too 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! 🙂

Thanks! Well, it’s just an arcade with lots of bars and restaurants, popular with people over 40 (hence the nickname), but it’s quite pretty.
That’s a great location for photos (love the nickname!). Very chic and stylish outfit too. Thanks for linking up!
