Smart Casual in Hot Weather
Sometimes you need to look a bit more pulled together, in spite of the hot weather. It could be for a semi-casual dinner party with the in-laws, or for work. Either way, you need to consider what is appropriate for the occasion, and chances are you need something a bit more conservative yet fun and summery.
Conservative and fun, isn’t that an oxymoron? Not necessarily. Take the shape of this outfit, for instance: the pencil skirt is a stable in a smart casual and formal work wardrobe. However, this skirt is unlined, which makes it more comfortable in hot weather. And the colourful pattern makes it fun.
A linen t-shirt is something you would expect to see as a part of a more relaxed, casual outfit, but who says it can’t be smart casual, too? It skims the body, following its natural shape, without being too revealing.
All we need now is a few summery accessories. The peach / coral bag matches the spots on the skirt, the black and white sunglasses and the gold-tone loafers add a touch of glam, and the birch wood necklace brings an element of fun to the outfit. And the sun umbrella? Well, that’s just a necessity, it goes with any outfit I wear in summer…
Outfit details:
skirt: Hobbs (old) / linen t-shirt: Caroll / shoes: Van Dal (old) / bag: Furla /
sunglasses: Marimekko / necklace: Poola Kataryna / sun umbrella: James Smith & Sons
What’s you recipe for summer smart casual?

Thanks, Nancy! I seem to be wearing a lot more patterns recently, or maybe it's something that blogging has taught me. Most of my wardrobe is in solid colours, though.
