Ah, the spring sun…
OK, so it may not be particularly warm, but trust me, having some sunshine makes a difference here. Our new bedroom is positioned so that we catch the early morning sun. As a result, this night owl is now waking up around sunrise (7 am). This is OK, but as the days keep getting longer, this may become a problem (for those of you living further south: in southern Finland sunrise is before 4 am in summer). Professor M is already talking about getting blackout curtains…
For me, what really makes a difference is having more daylight in the evening (at the moment, sunset is around 6pm, but in summer it may be as late as 11 pm). I’m more likely to want to go for a walk after work when there’s some daylight.
And these days, going for a walk is what passes for exercise. Or a hobby. Or any sort of activity that is not work-related…
As you can see, I’ve switched to a lighter down jacket (which you’ve seen many times before), to accommodate the (slightly) warmer temperature.
And now that I live just one block from the sea, I finally understand that there is only one thing I really need in my wardrobe: outerwear that is windproof.
Outfit details (all old):

Have you been shopping for spring clothes?

PS: Did you know that I also have an art blog called Dilettante Artist? Take a look at my latest artwork, sunset reflected on windows.
I also have 3 Instagram accounts: @elegance_revisited is connected to this blog, and I post new photos a couple of times a week, or whenever there is a new blog post. @dilettante.artist is where I post my artwork, and my ‘photo journal’ (= random pictures of this and that, or whatever catches my eye) is called @moments_revisited

I had forgotten about your other blog. I will need to visit in again! I do enjoy the longer days especially for later walks and dinner on the porch.

Oh, dinner on the porch! That sounds lovely. we only have a balcony (in an apartment building), but I’m looking forward to summer evenings there. At the moment I’m just happy the balcony has glass windows to keep the snow out…
I’ve only shopped my closet lately. I took not one but two different woollen coats into use, inspired by you Tiina. And aren’t stripes always trendy during spring? As I rediscovered a striped dress. The dress is annoyingly almost too short for me as a dress and yet definitely too long as tunic. So it was left unused, but it appeared to be perfect for lounging these days spend with family only. Have a nice weekend! -q

Great! Coats need to be worn, not kept in the closet. Let’s hope the weather gets better soon (for wool coats), too. And in my book, stripes are perfect year round, but I might be a bit biased…
That coat looks perfect and cosy for a windy day! 🙂 It’s so nice you get so much sun too! Even in summer we never get light to 11pm – that would be a dream! We do get sun really early though, I find it easier to get up when it’s light that early, winter makes it hard to get out of bed when it’s still dark at 5.30am haha!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂

Thanks! We have ‘white nights’ in summer: it never really gets dark (so, we can’t see the stars, for example) because we are so close to the polar circle (well, about 700 km). And in winter we hardly get any daylight for a few months. But who needs daylight when it’s cold and the weather is bad anyway?
I am so looking forward to the longer hours of daylight as well. My body is so in tune with the sunlight that I only function when it is light out! And I can’t sleep unless it is dark. I am loving your light weight puffer coat and wide legged trousers for a walk by the sea!

Hah! You’d have a hard time in Finland in summer: it never gets dark… But I see your point: I find the winter darkness difficult to cope with, too. Although, even with the increased daylight, I still think March is my least favourite month. That’s actually an understatement: I hate March, but that’s because of the constant sleet/snow/rain. Just when you think that now, finally, it’s going to be spring, it starts snowing again…
Oh my goodness, March is exactly like that here as well. This week it is beautiful spring weather and next week there is snow in the forecast!
