Shop Your Closet: Coats

Shop your closet…

This is becoming a series of posts, isn’t it? Oh well, why not. So, everything you see here you’ve seen before, many times. Maybe just not in this particular combination.

It was a cold, windy day… Just what you’d expect for late autumn. And I’m way behind in my plan to put away summer clothes and make room for winter clothes. And as I’ve been (and will be for a few more weeks) quite busy with work, it might well be that the big wardrobe overhaul will have to wait till December. Or January. Make that February. Or… Oh well, it’s going to be spring soon again. Well, eventually, I mean… Besides, who’s going to see what’s in my closet?

Anyway… As I was saying, at least I’ve managed to resurrect outerwear that is more appropriate for the colder weather.

I have quite a few coats, and if I’m totally honest, I really don’t need another one. Well, maybe a slightly shorter wool coat in a different style… Or a new puffa coat for winter… But I definitely don’t need another long, belted wool coat. I have three of them. And I bought this one only last year. And another long, belted coat the year before that. So, one wool coat (sorry, but I simply can’t call this a winter coat…) per year, on average. That’s not so bad, is it?

No, I really have to get my coat addiction under control. This year, I’m going to focus on what I actually need. So, no new wool coat (yes, you’ll probably be seeing this coat again…). But that new puffa coat might not be such a bad idea…

Anyway, about this outfit… Yes, it’s an old coat, and an even older dress, and the bag isn’t this year’s style, either. That’s life: you wear old clothes and make the most of it. And this is a personal style blog, and I’m a blogger who values honesty (most of the time, anyway).

And where was I going, wearing these old rags gems from my curated wardrobe? To dinner with hubby, and I wanted to dress up a bit, in spite of the windy weather.

I am not buying a new one either. I have got several and it depends on what temperature it is which I am wearing. The wool one is when it s colder then 7degrees but with winters in Netherlands I hardly ever wear it. It is a very heavy coat too and really warm. I think you need a wool coat in Finland.

Well, yes, a wool coat in Finland… well, that's for autumn, really. It has actually been snowing all week, with temperatures just below 0. That's a bit too cold for a wool coat. I need a whole collection of coats, for different temperatues! It's a long winter, too… Maybe I need a new coat, after all…

You look lovely and cosy in this coat, Good colour on you Hun! I'll be shopping my wardrobe for coats this year – probably won't be buying one – that is unless I see one that really takes my fancy!! 😉

Oh, I would love to have a new coat! I just need to be smart about it: I have enough wool coats, I need something warmer. Yep, it's been cold this week…

What a gorgeous trench! I love that color on you! It's fun to add color to an outfit and a coat that isn't a neutral is a unique way to do it!

Thanks, Ruth! I have trench addiction… But this is my one and only wool trench. And I don't have a neutral coat. Well, I have a black puffa coat…

Oooh love love love this teal coat! I can think of worse habits to have than a wool coat addiction. Wool coats are beautiful and I would accumulate them too if I could make the excuse for it. I'm a bit less elegant now that I don't have to wear career clothes. If I found the right wool coat in a thrift shop I would definitely get it though.

Thanks! Yes, I have a bad coat addiction. A trench coat addiction. And Yes, I love wool coats. Too bad they're not very useful in Finland in winter…

We just moved back up north after living in Tennessee for a few years, so it's time I invest in a warm new coat. Outerwear doesn't usually excite me, but I love the deep, rich hue and long, cozy length of yours. And I like it with the printed wrap dress and pop of pink underneath! It makes the coat feel like a thoughtful piece of the outfit instead of just an afterthought which is usually my approach to outerwear.<3

I have lots of coats, all in rich jewel tones. Living in cold climate makes the coat THE essential item (and justifies having a wardrobe full of them) for winter. And because the winter lasts 5-6 months, I can't stand the sight of any of my coats come April.

That coat is amazing. The dark teal is such a pretty and unique color. Plus, the coat matches the pretty patterned, wrap dress so nicely, Tiina. =)A brand-new linkup is currently on the blog. I’d love for you to linkup this great post and share your scrumptious style with my readers. I miss you on my linkup. =) Thanks and enjoy the weekend! =)
