Hello, my name is Tiina and I’m a stripe-a-holic…
Yes, there’s no denying it: I can’t resist stripes. And navy and white stripes? Please, that’s like shouting ‘Happy Hour’ in a room full of alcoholics… Go on, call the men in white coats, lock me up…
But wait, while I have a few (OK, lots of) tops with horizontal navy and white stripes, I’ve never worn anything with vertical stripes. OK, I’ve never worn anything with vertical stripes on the blog before… Fine, I have a black and white silk jacket, very similar to this one, but I can’t remember the last time I wore it…
OK, fine: I’m an addict, a stripe-a-holic, what can we do about it?
Personally, I’ve always thought that we should stop trying to ‘cure’ or ‘improve’ ourselves, and just embrace our neuroses, call them quirks and wear them with attitude. It would certainly save a lot of time and energy. Maybe I’m just being lazy…
Maybe I should try some sort of extreme therapy: being forced to wear nothing but florals for a month, or try a polka-dot overdose…
Or I could take less drastic measures and look for stripes in any other colour but navy and white. Or just stop buying anything in blue, at least for a while…
The reason why I’ve been buying mainly blue, or navy, clothes recently is that I don’t quite know what to do with all the other colours in the shops. I love colour, and I would like nothing more than to find something in green or purple or pink… and that’s the problem: there are lots of (pretty) colours in the shops, they’re just not my colours…
So, instead of just forgoing shopping completely this year, I buy clothes in colours I can mix and match with clothes I already have, and in colours I know I’ll be wearing next year, too.
So, for me this is the year to stock up on basics in navy and white…
I know, all addicts have very good excuses for not changing their behaviour… Maybe I just need a dose of coral? Nah, I’ll wait till I can have hot pink again. Until then… well, stripes are not really that bad, right?
I’m wearing:
jacket: Gerry Weber / shirt: Sand /chinos: Marks and Spencer / shoes: Clarks /
bag: Gloria Ortiz (old) / scarf: Alexander McQueen / sunglasses: Chanel
Do you keep buying a certain colour or type of clothes?
Tiina

I think stripes suit you so well! Why not just call it your signature style? Nothing to cure, only a constant supply of more stripes as the pieces get worn out :-)I've been thinking a lot about patterns lately. In general I don't do florals. It's not that florals aren't beautiful, more that they seem overly feminine on me. Maybe a curved body with curly hair is so feminine already that we need something more masculine like stripes to create some balance? As I'm actually planning a post on this soon, so your post was just the perfect inspirational reading!
I don't really wear florals, either. Maybe for the same reason you mentioned: a bit too girly… And yes, curly hair sort of makes me want to add more masculine or tough elements (it's that 'just don't call me cute' thing…).
Hi TiinaIused To. Buy same style clthes but not anyore. I try to buy different to have more options. However i have a thing with stipes and gingham.
I think I keep buying the same styles over and over again in a futile effort to simplify my life… My clothes are divided between two wardrobes, in two countries, after all…
Well, better stripe-a-holic than alcoholic! I wish I have more stripes in my closet.. they are classic! I love this jacket especially when the stripes are horizontal. We've seen many vertical but horizontal is not normally seen.
Absolutely! Although now that I think about it, I may have a teeny bit of an obsessive streak: I'm not just a stripe-a-holic but also a chocoholic, and I do have a thing for scarves…
We all have our favourites, usually because that is often what works best. I love this jacket on you ,it will work with so many things.I know what you mean about the colours, some seasons are the opposite of what we can wear. Keep enjoying those stripes!
Yes, and if it works… I just realised that all my jackets (the 3 or 4 of them) have some sort of a pattern. Well, I have one black jacket…
You got me thinking now about if I have any striped pieces with vertical stripes and I think I only have one and the vertical stripes are on the sleeves. This jacket is so pretty and I love the blue and the blue scarf on your bag.Carriecurlycraftymom.com
Thanks, Carrie. I actually have a jacket in black and white vertical stripes, too…
I have so many striped pieces in my closet! You jacket is fabulous! Love the zipper detail!JillDoused In Pink

I am a stripe-aholic too and this is a fab jacket, not sure I would've been able to walk away from it either. I love the moto cut of it. And I tend to buy a lot in navy to since it does go with every color.Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!Alicewww.happinessatmidlife.com
Now that you mentioned the moto-cut… I think I have 4 jackets in that style… Oh dear, I really, really need to get a blazer, right now. If only to show I'm not totally set in my ways…
