I’ve had this coat for years
And I’ve even featured it on the blog before, with the same scarf, no less. I admit, I find it a bit challenging to style this coat in a new way. Maybe it’s the bold pattern: I always think I need to tone everything else down a bit. Yet, at the same time I think the coat needs a dose of colour around it.
So, this is why I’m carrying a hot pink umbrella… I like mixing a bold pattern with bright colour, as long as they are sort of separate elements within the outfit…
And safety is important, of course.
This is not a brooch but a pedestrian safety reflector. When it’s dark, it reflects the light from headlights of passing cars, making sure the drivers can see me. This is rather important when we have only about 4-5 hours of daylight this time of the year…
I’m wearing:
Coat: Manuela Conti (old) / jeans: Next / scarf: Fraas (old) /
bag: Furla / shoes: Tero Palmroth / gloves: Pia Rossini / umbrella: L’asessor
How would you restyle this coat? Let me know in the comments.
Tiina

A beautiful coat, I love the color combination.
Thank you, Josep-Maria. Purple and pink are two of my favourite colours.
Colour needs colour sometimes – like a sparring partner! I love the rich purple of the coat – you always have such great coats! What a clever idea about the pedestrian safety reflector. That would be useful for me when I'm walking home in the dark!http://petitesilvervixen.blogspot.co.uk/
That is so true; colour needs a sparring partner, well put! There's so little daylight this time of the year it seems that if you blink you miss it. A safety reflector can save your life, so get one!
Great safety brooch!I love this coat. I would wear it with everything, but that is me.It would be gorgeous picking out the olive green stripe in some olive pants!Xo Jazzy Jack
Thanks! Olive green…Hmm, that might work. Olive green is a colour that I have never had in my wardrobe, for some reason. And I wouldn't wear it next to my face, but trousers… why not? I just need to think if I have anything else I could wear it with first.
Lovely coat, Tiina, and that safety brooch is a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing,-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thanks, Patti.
You have an awesome collection of coats and this is another great example! I'd add a causal pair of burgundy jeans/cords/sweats. I love that reflector pin/brooch.
Thank you so much for you kind words! I never thought of my coat collection as awesome, or even a collection for that matter. It took me a long time to accept that I need several coats, to accommodate the ever-changing weather and seasons, and I still feel that I haven't covered all my bases.
A safety brooch. What a terrific idea. You Finns are so clever. I love your coat. And there's that fabulous pink bag. Looking very cute, Tiina.
Thanks, Connie. Safety reflectors come in all shapes and sizes, and they're quite important when you spend months on end in almost complete darkness (well, we do have a few hours of daylight…).
It almost looks like a beautiful brooches!www.fashionandfoodandotherstuff.com
Yes, it does. It's great, isn't it?
Love the mix of style and comfort in this coat – Happy Holidays!!Rebeccahttp://www.redtagchiclosangeles.com
Thanks, Rebecca. Happy Holidays!
Nice coat! The safety reflector seems like a good touch for evenings!www.amemoryofus.com
Thanks! Yes, the safety reflector is quite useful, could be a lifesaver, too.
That is a very cute coat! I like the prints and the colors. Only 4-5 hours daylight? My gosh! But you look great! :)Thank you so much for your nice comments on my blog. Really appreciate it! Thanks, Grace. Well, we Nordics are used to long, dark winters…
This coat suits you so well , the pink umbrella and pale blue scarf the perfect partners. Your reflector does look just like a silver brooch.I have always wondered about the short daylight hours , I guess it is just a fact of life that happens and you adjust.
Thanks, Jill. Yes, darkness in winter is just a fact of life living here in the north, but a lot of people find it difficult. I'm fine with it, the darkest period of the year is also the coldest, and it's the cold that annoys me more. And even if there's not much daylight at the moment, summer (and the 20 or so hours of daylight) is only 6 months away…
What a lovely coat. I love the colours, they're so rich. That reflector is a fantastic idea! Teawww.whatmamawear.blogspot.ca
Thank you, Tea.
You have styled it very well. Even the blue turtleneck works perfectly. I like all these shades of purple/pink. As they are all "family" they work together. That reflecting brooch is a clever idea. It might not be meant as a brooch but it looks like that. And a modern one too.Greetje
Thanks, Greetje. It's a scarf, not a turtleneck, actually. I keep buying clothes in certain colours because then they always work together, and that makes my life easier. I sometimes think I should add a few new colours, though, just for fun.
LOVE this coat and it looks perfect with the bits of pink surrounding it!Laurawww.24-7style.com
Thanks, Laura!

Thanks, Nicole, looking forward to the Christmas party.
Your coat is gorgeous and I love the pinks and purple! The safety reflector is such a great idea! It looks just like a pretty broach!JillDoused In Pink
Thanks! Pink and purple, aren't those two just the prettiest colours, even in winter?
What a gorgeous coat and I love the pink paired with it. I used to run at night and always wore a light to make sure cars saw me. But my reflector is not nearly as pretty as the one you have.Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and have a wonderful holiday season. See you in 2016!Alicewww.happinessatmidlife.com
A reflector is really important when it's dark,so good for you! Happy holidays!
