Ready for Spring

casual chic spring

It’s spring!

It’s sunny (well, sometimes…) and warm (OK, +6 °C when these photos were taken, but at least it’s above zero…) and pleasant (apart from the wind, and the occasional sleet / hail shower…).

But it’s finally spring! No ice on the sea anymore! And (most of) the snow is gone! And soon everything will be blooming, and then it will be summer, and…

Let’s just say that winter is (finally) over. That’s good enough, for now.  And to celebrate the imminent arrival of warmer spring weather (trying to be positive here), I’ve switched to a lighter jacket.

I know what you’re thinking: are all my jackets navy blue? And quilted? Well, no, and no. But most of them are. What can I say? Navy blue is the dominant colour in my wardrobe. That’s because it’s my version of a neutral: so much kinder to my pale face than black, and so much less blah than beige.

And quilted jackets… Well, now that I live one block from the seafront, I’m learning that the most important attribute of a coat or a jacket is that it is windproof. And as it’s only April, it can get a bit windy and stormy at times. Although whoever coined the phrase ‘April showers‘ probably wasn’t referring to sleet or snow…

Anyway…

It’s spring, and it’s getting warmer, and this pandemic will soon be over, and… OK, maybe not. But we can always hope, right?

Loving this outfit! Great pics, and I am making a concerted effort to replace a lot of the black in my wardrobe with navy as it finally occurred to me that it is much kinder to my coloring! This WILL be slow going as, 1. I am not a lover of shopping and 2. I live in the L.A. area where black is the default chic but, I will do it!

Thank you! Yes, often navy (or brown or purple) is a better colour. I’ve never really liked black, but I feel like wearing a darker colour, something that gives me the same vibe as wearing black but without the harshness. I would like o experiment with brown tones more, but they’re not so easy to find.

I love the way you style your navy jackets, and I think they create a coherent wardrobe, which is fabulous!. And this is a cool jacket with a distinctive design. Love your striped trousers and fab bag, and the touch of colour of your scarf!.
Glad that spring is coming!. And also glad that you can walk near the sea (despite that wind!) it sounds delightful!

Thank you! Yes, a coherent wardrobe, that’s what I’m after. I got really tired of nothing in my wardrobe matching, and with limited storage space I felt I couldn’t just add random pieces, never mind how much I liked them.

Oh I’m sure warm weather is on its way. And yes, the winters are long, and cold (mostly), and dark. But the long, sunny summer evenings make up for it.

I love the navy and dark red combo! It’s just above freezing in Minnesota today, so I was still in a puffer coat when I was out this morning (navy with dark red floral print, of course), but I am still thinking Spring.

Oh dear, the cold mornings, I can relate to that…

We can definitely hope, Tiina! I have been riding on hope for a long time! I love these striped pants and I totally understand why navy dominates your wardrobe. It is a really great color on you. We were supposed to have snow flurries tomorrow but the forecast changed to rain, but it will still be too cold for anything springlike around here! Thanks for linking with me.

Thanks! Yes, I think we’ve all had enough of winter (or snow / sleet etc). It’s getting much warmer now, fortunately.

Gah, it is snowing here right now! We are supposed to get 6 inches (15.2 cm) of the stuff today. Make it stop! Haha.

Yes, spring is finally here, and it will get warmer soon, and the trees will have leaves any day now.

I love the navy and burgundy together! The jacket looks very warm but not heavy, perfect for chilly spring days. The striped trousers are fabulous! Thanks for linking up!

Thanks, Emma! Navy and burgundy are good colours for a capsule wardrobe, I think.
