And sometimes it rains…
It’s been a very warm and beautiful autumn. Well actually, it feels more like summer than autumn. Most of the time, anyway. But sometimes Mother Nature gives us a glimpse of what lies ahead…
Of course, we all know that Mother Nature can be a bit moody, especially this time of the year. Sure, she may spoil us with warm weather and sunshine the whole week, and then on Saturday (the only day when my darling husband is around to act as my on-call photographer) she decides to get us drenched. You know, just for fun…
OK, I live in a coastal town, in a Nordic country, and it’s late September. Bad weather and rain should be the default setting. Besides, I know full well that Mother Nature is a nasty b*#*h, and she can turn on you at any time.
So, I come prepared: not only do I have about 7-8 rain coats (distributed more or less evenly between our two homes), I also have quite a collection of umbrellas. Hah! Take that Mother Nature! Better luck trying to soak me next time!

Shall I be completely obnoxious and be truthful? The devil on my one shoulder says do it….the angel on my other says don’t do it! Suffice it to say I am writing from the Los Angeles, California area….where the good news is the 340+ days of sunshine a year and the bad news is, well, the bad news is, it’s L.A.!!!!!!
That sounds lovely, the 340 days of sunshine. A little bit of sunshine (almost) every day. Not like here: we Nordics save all our sunlight for summer…
I remember when I was in LA (a really long time ago), it was mid-July,really hot during the day, and then it was really cold after sunset. And sunset was so early! I mean, I know know it, of course, that so far south sunset is a lot earlier than what I’m used to (in summer, that is), but it still surprised me every time. I remember I once went into a department store for maybe 10 minutes, came out, and the sun was gone. Like, blink it and you’ll miss it. It was weird. And a bit freaky. That’s because I associate summer and hot weather with endless daylight practically around the clock.
What a fabulous umbrella! You have the right idea – work with it! xx Maria
Thanks, Maria!
Sending you some sunshine from Côte d’Azur, please enjoy. Love your brolly by the way.
Thanks, Flora! I know we just had a long, hot summer, with plenty of sunshine. But seeing it get darker earlier every evening makes me miss summer already. And I don’t even particularly like summer! I mean, autumn is my favourite season…
Yep I agree, I’m just hoping she’ll be on my side next week as I have a wedding! I’m planning on sandals, but will have to see how accommodating she it. xx Cute look. Thanks for sharing on #chicandstylish Jacqui Mummabstylish
A wedding! That sounds exciting! Let’s hope Mother Nature is in a good mood, then…

Thanks, Nicole!
I love that you have some beautiful rain coats and umbrellas, that’s brilliant!.
I like the subtle color combo, the matching scarf and bag, the cool sneakers and also cool coat! and the Fabulous Umbrella which adds a touch of color! What a lovely outfit!
Autumn is also my favourite season, but our warm Autumn looks quite ‘summery’, we’ve been having some 25-28ºC days. Mornings are becoming chilly, days are shorter but light is still delightfully golden in the evenings and wineyards have some reddish touches. My favourite season!
