For the second part of my 3-part series featuring this fitted, pink dress I decided to go for full-on glamour. So, what you see here is me channeling the early 60’s Italian movie stars…
This look is elegant and sophisticated rather than revealing or in-you-face-sexy. So, to counteract the attention-grabbing hot pink of the dress, I have to keep everything else muted, streamlined and clutter-free.
As you can see, it’s not just the dress that is the same as in the previous look but also the shoes and the bag. That is on purpose, of course, as I want to demonstrate that really small changes can make a huge difference. So, I’ve added sunglasses, pearl ear rings, a brooch and a coat (which you’ve seen so many times that you must be tired of it by now).
With an elegant, glamorous look, it is important to keep the jewellery simple and understated. A few carefully selected pieces are enough. So, choose either ear rings or a necklace, not both.
I am wearing
dress: L.K.Bennett (old) / coat: Marks & Spencer (A/W 2014) / bag: Michael Kors (old) / shoes: Clarks (old) / sunglasses: Prada (old) / ear rings: Thomas Sabo / brooch: Swarowski (old) / leather flower pin: Viaminnet

You look incredibly elegant Tiina!Baci,Coco et La vie en rose – Valeria Arizzi
Thanks! Yes, I glam up nicely…
You look very sophisticated here. Old glam style. bisousSuzanne
Thanks, Suzanne! Well, that old movie star glamour was my inspiration here.
This truly is full on glamour! I love the mid-century brooch.
Thanks, Connie! I was inspired by the early 60s style… the brooch is actually just a few years old (Swarovski), but the style was definitely inspired by mid-century designs.
This coat is so beautiful, I can hardly get tired of seeing it! Love this look as well. I'm not sure I always understand what "glamorous" means… often, when something is described as "glam", it seems cold and commercial or unapproachable to me, and that I am not crazy about (even though it can be beautiful). But with the choices of colors here, I don't see your look as cold or unapproachable. Elegant – yes, Beautiful – yes. Glamorous – I guess I'm lost there. 🙂 xxx
Thanks, Natalia. Yes, I can see the problem with semantics. 'Glamour' is being used to describe all sorts of things, some of them very contrived and fake, some even quite seedy and in bad taste. That's why I think we need to reclaim the word and reintroduce it in its original sense: the elegance and sophistication of the movie stars of the past, the wow factor that made them so compelling… Let's just say I've always had a soft spot for the 50s-60s styles…
Love this look and the coat is sublime, everytime I see it I want to buy one!
Thanks! I'm getting very fond of that coat, too. it's incredibly versatile.
The combination of colours you've put together here is just stunning! x

Yes, very 60's old-school glamor – you look gorgeous. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.
This is a particularly fabulous dress– a classy design in an eye-catching color make a perfect combo!
Thank you, Rachel. I love this colour, but as it is very strong, it's best to keep everything else simple.
Just thinking how beautiful your pink dress would look under my black satin coat I wrote about. Hmmm. Maybe I'll go to that opera after all.
Hmm, now I want to get an opera coat…
Yup … pretty much defines classic glamour! You look wonderful in ways a less curvaceous woman would not. Beautifully styled, and such a lovely, "you" color. You look the complete movie star. Can I have your autograph, please?
Ah, thank you so much, Jan, for your sweet words!
