My photographer/husband, professor M, and I usually plan our photoshoots for Saturday afternoons / evenings. This means that we we spend 15-20 minutes taking photos before we go and have dinner somewhere.
That was the plan for this photoshoot (a week ago), too. However, we were absolutely starving by the time we got to the restaurant and decided to have dinner first.
Summer restaurants
Summer restaurants, like the yacht club we had chosen as the location of our little photoshoot, are only open during the summer season and only accessible by a shuttle boat. In this case, the boat trip took just a couple of minutes…
Anyway… after a wonderful dinner (read: a few hours and several glasses of wine), we realised that it was 9.30 pm and the sun would be setting soon… So, we rushed out and took a few photos.
It was a warm evening after a warm day. Still, after ‘dark’ (= after sunset, as it doesn’t really get dark here at the moment), it might get a bit cooler. And you know I like my ponchos… But, seriously, the poncho is a good alternative to a cardigan: it’s loose fitting and goes with anything. Not to mention it makes for some very dramatic photos…
Sunset over the city skyline is so beautiful, isn’t it?
And when we got back to the mainland (after the short boat trip), we tried some night photography. Full moon over Suomenlinna (= a district of Helsinki situated on a cluster of islands) was just too beautiful to ignore.
Outfit details:
poncho: Marja Kurki / t-shirt: PBO / trousers: Marimekko /
bag: Chanel / shoes: Clarks (old) / sunglasses: Marimekko (old)
location: restaurant NJK, Valkosaari, Helsinki
Are you looking forward to those warm summer evenings?
Tiina

What a lovely poncho! I’m glad you managed to get photos after a lovely dinner 🙂 I find I have to take pics in the morning, or I forget or the boys spill something or ruin my outfit somehow, haha!
Hope you’ve been having a great weekend! I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I’d love you to join! 🙂

Thanks, Mica!
Yes, I can see why you’d like to get the photos done first thing. I also try to have the photos done as soon as possible, because the clothes get wrinkled, or I sill some coffee on them…
woww, I love your ponchos, they look stylish and warm! and you rock them!. And obviously, these pictures have a wonderful light, the landscape with the moon is amazing!
Glad that you can enjoy those beautiful summer restaurants, it’s something particularly lovely!

Thanks! The light on spring/summer evenings is always very special; I actually love these just-before-sunset pictures because of that. But as sunset is getting later now (ready well after 10 pm), I think I’ll have to wait till late summer for proper sunset pictures.
Beautiful pictures! I love the color of your poncho (purple is my favorite).

Thanks! I have this same poncho in several colours: 2 shades of red, one in blue, one in off-white and the plaid purple one in these pictures. And I’ve been toying with the idea of getting it in navy… I must be out of my mind.
The light is so beautiful and made for lovely shots. I always love your ponchos and yes they do make interesting shots. Enjoy your warmer days and dining out.

Thanks, Jill. Warmer days are on the way. It’s been rainy and cooler lately, but I’m hopeful…
Your ‘golden hour’ shots look stunning, and what a pretty shawl your sharing. Thanks for joining me on #chicandstylish too. Jacqui Mummabstylish

Thanks, Emma. Yes, a poncho is a great cover-up for cooler evenings. You can just wear with over anything.
