Florals are not my thing. Neither is anything delicate and feminine. Then why am I wearing a flowy, floral A-line dress???I guess it happens to everybody, at one point of another. Temporary insanity, I mean. We’ve all done something totally out of character, once or twice, right? RIGHT?
Besides, it’s not that bad. The dress, I mean. It’s actually quite cute. I mean, that’s why I bought it.
I kept going back to the store, touching it, placing it in front me and looking at myself in the mirror. And then I tried it on.
Big mistake. The next thing I knew I was buying it…
It’s not my usual style, that’s for sure. But I like how the fabric (viscose) moves around me. So, I guess I do sort of like the dress. At times. And at times, I wonder what got into me. As to whether it will become a favourite., time all tell. Perhaps I will find a way to style it in a different way. You know, a bit more edgy… We’ll see.
Anyway, how fabulous is this little bag? And it’s made of cork! Hubby got it for me, as a Christmas present / souvenir from Madeira.
By the way, it’s totally accidental that I’m blending into my surroundings here. Or that the colours in my outfit match the buildings. Or maybe we just happened to pass this street and I couldn’t resist…
Outfit details:
dress: Andiata / bag: Artipel /
sunglasses: Nina Ricci / shoes: Clarks (old)
location: Funchal, Madeira
Have you ever bought something that wasn’t your ‘usual’ style?

I know exactly what you mean Tiina , I am not really a floral girl either but that said you look good in this dress and yes it is perfect in the surrounds. I saw many cork bags in Portugal although I didn’t purchase one , settling for a brooch and ear-rings.

Thanks, Jill.
Yes, I saw your fab earrings. And I have the same brooch, just in a different colour!
You look great in the dress and I love your bag I bet it’s light to carry, but strong. I think cork is great we had cork floors in our last home and they were wonderful.

Thanks, Flora. They make amazing bags from cork in Madeira (or Portugal), so cool and durable.
I had some insanity last Saturday and wore a dress, full stop. No floral about it. You know me and my jeans and trousers. I wear skirts so much for work that I really gravitate to trousers when not working. Anyway the response on Instagram was incredible . So yes it happens to us all, temporary dress insanity.

Ha ha! I can relate to that. I wear trousers most of the time, even in summer. I just find them more comfortable.
I think that buying something totally outf of character/style when in holidays is totally normal, a temporary insanity!. But a viscose dress is a fab purchase!. And you look particularly gorgeous!
Anyway, I like your floral dress, it’s quite subtle and easy to mix and match because it has a black background. I think that you could style it with usual fabulous accessories!
Love your cute bag too!

Thanks! I bought this dress especially for the holiday, a couple of days before I left. You know, for ‘special occasions’, because I had mostly just very casual clothes and I thought I needed something a tad more ‘formal’ (for whatever reason).
But yes, I will certainly try it with different accessories. In spring, when it gets warmer.
Love your dress! And you look fab in it. Yes, sometimes I do that too – buy something I normally wouldn’t and sometimes it works and of course, sometimes it doesn’t. In your case, it works! Arlene from NJ

Thanks, Arlene! Well, time will tell whether I will actually wear this dress. I just hate the idea of storing clothes I don’t really wear at all.
I absolutely love you in this dress!! I’m so pleased you bought it. xx Maria

Thanks, Maria!
You look gorgeous, Tiina! I really love these pictures too. I still don’t think I have my “usual” style, it all depends on my mood, so insanity is just my cup of tea when it comes to style experiments. 🙂 Happy New Year!!

Well, you know I am a floral girl, and I LOVE this dress on you! Great style and love the warm floral colors. The orange bag and nude flats are a wonderful addition to this look. One thing I have liked about blogging, you do step out of your comfort zone from time to time!

Thank you Jessica! Florals and warm colours are both a bit of a novelty to me, so this is an experiment of sorts…
