Blush and orange…
Two colours that are practically non-existent in my wardrobe. Given my aversion to anything that is ‘not my colour’, you probably didn’t expect this… Yet, here I am, wearing blush and orange…
I know, just a few weeks ago I said this year I would just have to stock up on basics in blue and white and hope that next year will bring back colours I feel more comfortable with. But I think I have reached the saturation point with blue, or navy in particular, and just need something else. So badly that I’m willing to step out of my comfort zone completely and try some blush and orange…
It started with this linen-mix t-shirt I bought in Barcelona… I love Pop Art, and the print was just calling my name… and then I needed something to go with it.
So, if I’m going to get out of my comfort zone, might as well go all the way… thus, the tencel track pants. Very comfortable for warm weather, although as the colour is so similar to my skin tone, I don’t think I will be rushing to get more clothes in blush tones any time soon…
BTW, I think I need to point out that this is me with a tan. Yes, I said I’m tanned. I am, honestly…
I’m wearing:
track pants: Marks and Spencer / linen-mix t-shirt: Custo Barcelona /
bag: Adolfo Dominguez / shoes: Clarks (old) / sunglasses: Miu Miu (old)
So, what do you think, are blush and orange my colours? Or should we just call it a passing fancy? Or the side effect of heat exhaustion: being temporarily out of my mind?

I can see why this top had to be yours , I love its graphic design but agree the colours are tricky to wear. I too find the blush colours do nothing for me either. All I can say is the shirt does work on you and if you love it don't worry about the comfort zone.
Thanks, Jill. I really love this top, the print is amazing and it's so comfortable. So, I will be trying to find more ways to wear it..
I like the shirt on you (it's interesting and a nice fit), but I feel like it kinda gets lost with those pants! Have you tried it with white pants? jodiewww.jtouchofstyle.comps…you look tan compared to me!!!
Thanks, Jodie. White pants is one of those looks that I absolutely love on other people. On myself… let's just say I try not to draw attention to my hips… But I can see the point you're making: the top needs a bit more contrast to really work.
I love the design and say yea to the colors! Love the bag too. I think it is great to try different colors and step out. I never thought I would wear orange, yet is has become a favorite. Beleive me, I dont tan, just burn! Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!jess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thanks, Jess! Yes, experimenting with new colours is inspiring. But a whole lot more complicated when your clothes are scattered around two homes. Then it's simply more practical (if sometimes boring) that everything matches.
A beautiful shirt
Thank you.
That tee suits you to a tee! Completely understand why it jumped out at you. And the bag is fabulous. As I'm pale I find blush difficult to wear – I look insipid in it – so I tend to stay away! I agree with Jodie, I think the tee would look great with either white trousers or a dark colour. And yes, you absolutely have a tan! Do you have a watch mark? I always get very excited when I develop even the slightest watch mark as then I can show people and say 'look, I'm tanned'!
Thanks! I think I will try the t-shirt with something darker next. I ahve a bit of a love-hate relationship with white: it sort of makes me fade into the wall (and you know what they say about white trousers and big bottoms…)In my case it's my feet where I can see that I'm tanned: I can see the line where the shoe was.
I think blush is a great color for you.. very soft and elegant even in a casual get-up. I love that T.shirt! So cool and had I seen one, I would jump at it too 🙂
I think blush takes some getting used to, and I don't think I would wear it close to my face… I love Custo Barcelona t-shirts, but it's been years since I bought one (I always to to a Custo shop in Barcelona, though). Believe me, this was one of the more subtle ones in the shop…
These are great colors together and I am always trying to figure out other color combos to do with a blush blouse I have. Track pants are great, aren't they? I have a pair in black, but need them in a fun color like you have!Carriecurlycraftymom.com
I thought I would wear these track pants mainly at home, sort of lounge wear… but they seem to work with casual wear, too. I may even try them for work…
I love Barcelona! And that t shirt is so cute how could you have resisted? I read on another blog that those favorite pieces that may be a bit outside your style box are the "hero" pieces. I like that idea. I have always wanted to find one of those Custo tees but they all seem to run so small.
Yes, we all need a few unusual pieces. I sure do: otherwise my wardrobe would be full of Breton stripe t-shirts… You should try Custo t-shirts in linen blend, they are a bit more generous (I think this one is a medium), or some less fitted styles.
Your tee is so fun! Love the colors of this outfit! You look great!JillDoused In Pink
Thanks, Jill!
I love that graphic tee!- Lizwww.LizLizo.com
Thanks, Liz!
I wore this color combo last year & loved how unexpected it was. I'll have to try it again this season!xo,Michelle Paigewww.michellespaige.com
It's good to experiment every now and then, isn't it? That being said, I will no doubt be back to my old favourites in no time…
Thanks 4 linking up to Top of the World Style. You totally can rock these colors in this form. Nice casual look!
