I love a statement necklace, and often plan an entire outfit around it…
I’ve worn this blue and green necklace quite often recently, and I’m trying to come up with new outfits to wear it with.
Most of the time, I’m quite happy wearing basics: trousers and a t-shirt are the easy option for a long day, and you can get dressed fast. Somehow I always seem to be in a hurry leaving for work, and must get dressed in 5 minutes… even on days when I only work in the afternoons!
I know, should get started earlier… I spend about half an hour doing my make up (= a little bit of powder, blush and lots of lipstick) and my hair. OK, lets’s revise that: 5 minutes for make-up and the rest of the time is for blowdrying my hair into submission… So, given all that time and effort, why is it that I always have the same messy ‘do’ in all the pictures? You should see my hair when I wake up… Let’s just say that having curly hair is a curse…
This silk coat is one of my late summer / early autumn work wear favourites: lightweight, dressy, eye-catching and fun… I bought it in San Francisco 3 years ago, in a shop called Asian Trends in Chinatown. I usually avoid tourist traps and souvenir shops, but this little shop had the most amazing silk clothing and accessories. And it looks so great with the necklace, don’t you think?
Do you have work wear favourites?

Linking up with Patti for Visible Monday
Wonderful jacket, Tiina! I gave up trying to tame my fuzzy curls, but your looks better than mine, so perhaps I should give it a go! : > Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
Thanks, Patti. I think weather plays a key role in managing curly hair: a nice, sunny day is a good hair day… A rainy day, or hot and humid, no need to bother with blowdrying…
That jacket is AWESOME! I love it. You look amazing Tiina. 🙂
Thanks! And thanks for stopping by.
I quite certain if I owned this incredible jacket, it would be one of my all time favorite pieces also. It is truly a unique and stylish jacket, looking ever so wonderful!
Thanks, Trina. It's amazing what you can find in the oddest places… And it is a silk jacket, real silk, and in MY colours, too…
What a fun coat and I really like the pants you paired it with! This is a great piece for you! I hope you will stop by to enter my $1000 gift card giveaway for a top clothing line!
Thanks, Pam. This is sort of a transitional outfit: jacket for autumn, pants for summer…
Your coat is stunning, I too find lightweight coats perfect for this time of year( even though our seasons are reversed) and the necklace colours just right, lovely piece.
Thanks, Jill. Yes, sometimes autumn / spring can be tricky: warm one moment, a bit chilly the next… That necklace has become one of my favourite pieces, I wear it all the time.
I am in love with the fabric of the jacket. Popped by from VM.http://thriftshopcommando.blogspot.com/2014/09/back-to-skeool.html
The pattern is fantastic, that's why I got the jacket. Well, that and the colour… Thanks for stopping by.
I do believe you have a statement coat as well as a statement necklace. I've found great finds in Chinatown, as well. You just never know!
Thanks, I think you're right… That's a lot of 'statement' for one outfit, and for someone who prefers simple and low-key… I love Chinatown in San Francisco. Well, I love San Francisco…
Tiian .. thank you for stopping by .. I'm swooning over your jacket!!! It is gorgeous. and your statement necklace is most lovely. Ahh yes the curly hair … I leave the blow outs to the professionals – and when I'm left to do it on my own … I end up leaving it curly (I always lose the fight with the brush, blow dryer and curls..LOL) … when I leave it curly I found that the Moroccan cream for curly hair works miracles. I have a hard time keep up between countryside and city .. can't imagine homes in two different countries …do share your secret. Hugs, Celia M. -HHL
Thanks, Celia. Yes, curly hair… It is quite high maintenance, don't you think? Mine definitely needs a lot of pampering and tons of products. Moroccan oil is good, but I use it sparingly as my hair is not just curly but fine like a baby's…
Oh, your coat is gorgeous! I love the colours, and the necklace goes beautifully with it! I'm a curly girl, and have a very low maintenance routine based on the curly girl book! Never blow dry.
Thanks, Sue! I think you're right: a low maintenance routine is the best option for us curly girls… now, if only my hair hair would decide once and for all whether it wants to be curly or wavy…
There isn't anything I don't love about that coat. Dying here! Beautiful. Perfect with your necklace, clever girl. All wildly flattering … so cute with your little flats! And silk? Dying more dramatically, now!
Thanks, Jan! Who would have thought San Francisco Chinatown is such a great place for fashion shopping???
I'm a photographer so the workwear is jeans and a t-shirt most of the time. Because of that, in my off time I like to dress up to the nines. So completely opposite of most folks. I also have to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that jacket.
Thanks, Kristina. I love dressing up, too, especially when I'm not working, and not in a hurry. It's luxury to have time to put a bit more effort into dressing and not think about whether something is a bit too low cut or impractical…
Agreed! The coat looks great with that necklace. You look fabulous too. I have the same problem with my hair.Jasmine xFor a Real Woman – Instagram – Bloglovin
Thanks, Jasmine! Yes, curly hair can be difficult… and nobody understands that better than another curly girl.
