Navy and White
That’s the colour combination I probably wear the most, especially in summer. I wear it so often that it’s practically my uniform… Well, it’s my version of wearing neutrals, I guess. And it’s more flattering than black and white for my natural colouring.
However, it can get a bit dull. Especially the way I usually wear it: navy trousers, a t-shirt with navy and white stripes. And I have to admit that I really like that combo. It always works, whatever the weather or the situation. Besides, you and me both know that I have a a somewhat serious stripe addiction…
Anyway, I decided to shake things up a bit. The key word here is a bit; don’t expect a total style overhaul. This is just a different take on the same-old-same-old. Or the same-old-same-old with a twist. And upgrade, maybe, if not an update. A classier version of the navy-with-navy-and-white-stripes idea, in a way.
Enter the dress I bought at Cos a couple of years ago. Given that I mostly wear trousers, a dress (especially a dress that only comes to my knees) is something new. Look! I’m exposing my paler-than-pale legs!
OK, so that wasn’t very exciting. Let’s add something else that’s new. Or unexpected.
Pearls! Yes, nothing says classy like pearls. Besides, I love pearls. I just never quite know how to wear them. And yet, I have several strands of pearls (both real and fake). Maybe I should just experiment more.
Now, where can I get a longer version of a striped dress? A maxi dress with navy and white stripes, that would be something new. No? But it would be so comfortable, like an old friend, how could I resist…

Thanks, dear! I love pearls, I just never quite know how to wear them. They can look a bit conservative (and that’s a no-no in my book), so it’s a bit of a challenge.
That’s a nice dress. I too have a stripe addiction. One day my daughter said “Are you trying to see how many striped tops you can wear in a week?” Ha! I didn’t realize I had worn a striped top every day, and usually navy/white combination or black/white combination. Your pearls look great with the outfit. I think a striped maxi dress would be great. Have you looked for one? We are having a heatwave here in NJ and no matter what I wear, I feel uncomfortable. Hope you have a wonderful day. Thanks, Arlene. Every day is a stripe day, in my opinion…
I’ve been looking for a striped maxi dress for a while, but haven’t found one that I liked yet. One day…
I have a striped navy and white maxi dress that I really like! Great color combo!

Yes, navy and white always works!
Tiina , you always wear your navy and white so well and stripes suit it just so perfectly. I can certainly see you in a striped maxi too.
