HELLO SUMMER!!!
Last weekend we had a bit of a heatwave. It was really warm, almost too warm (yes, I hate very hot weather almost as much as I hate very cold weather… I know, I’m weird). Apparently, last Sunday was the warmest Mother’s Day for 60 years!
Unfortunately, the only mother Professor M and I could be celebrating was Mother Nature (as for once she wasn’t being a total bitch) since both our mothers and grandmothers are all long gone.
Anyway, it was the perfect day to officially start the ‘summer season’. So, let’s call this the first summer outfit of the year. Of course, we may revert to ‘spring outfits’ again, if Mother Nature decides that’s more appropriate for the time of the year. You know how fickle she is. And I’m being a pessimist. Yep, always the glass-half-empty girl, that’s me…
So, how do we start the ‘summer season’?
By going to a summer restaurant, of course! And as there are quite a few of them, we’d better get started as soon as possible. That is if we want to make sure we visit each one at least once this summer. This is how Professor M rationalises that…
If this place looks familiar, that’s because this isn’t the first time I’ve posted photos of it…
But this time we took the outfit photos while waiting for the shuttle boat to take us to the island.
OK, let’s talk about the outfit…
I thought a nautical theme would be appropriate. You know, going to dinner at a yacht club and all… So, stripes it is.
And why not test-drive my new Marimekko shoes? Especially since they match my Marimekko bag…
This pattern, Unikko (= poppy), was first introduced in 1964 (which makes it older than I am). Since then it has had several incarnations: bigger or smaller, in a variety of colour combinations. For some reason I was completely smitten with this version. Probably because it looks so good with blue and white stripes…
Outfit details:
top: J.Crew (old) / trousers: Noom / bag and shoes: Marimekko / sunglasses: Prada
location: NJK (Valkosaari, Helsinki)
When does summer start in your opinion?
Tiina

Beautiful outfit!!https://julesonthemoon.blogspot.it
Thank you.
Glad the very fickle Spring weather was kind and you were able to visit the Summer restaurant, it is such an interesting building. The nautical stripes were perfect and I do like those Marimekko shoes and bag.
The weather has been wonderful, it feels more like summer than spring here at the moment. The perfect weather for summer restaurants ( and there are quite a few of them…).
Those shoes are just cute! Great to see them with the matching bag. The restaurant looks very romantic in the lovely weather.
Thanks. I don't usually like matchy-matchy, but I just couldn't resist…
I love nautical style and I love Marimekko! Thanks for linking up at the Blended Blog!
Thank you, Sheila.
I don't like hot weather too. Just not a fan. Stripes are always a go to for me whenever I don't know what to wear which more often than I think! Lol 😂 I love the different color pocket on this top. It adds a little pizazz to an already lovely top.Maureen | http://www.littlemisscasual.com
Thanks, Maureen.I think hot weather is just as bad as (too) cold weather: it just makes you feel so uncomfortable… And nothing is worse than being uncomfortable, if you ask me.Stripes are my go-to option, too, most of the time. I think I may have a mild stripe addiction…
ohhh, I'm totally in love with your shoes and bag!, such a fab print and so lovely design (I think that quality desing never ages!) and they look so beautiful matching your striped t-shirt!You rock a nautical chic style!besos
This is actually one of my favourite Marimekko prints, even though it's been done to (almost) death. You see it literally everywhere. But I just loved the idea of mixing the small print with the bigger print, and stripes…And the shoes are actually very comfortable. I have the same shoes in white and I wore them all the time when I was on holiday in Madeira (and you really need good walking shoes there)
Lovely, those pumps and matching bag are superb Tiina. x Jacqui Mummabstylish
Thanks, Jacqui. They're not pumps but trainers, with velcro. But rally comfy.
I love your matching bag and shoes, the print is charming…and stripes are always a good idea! Glad to hear you got some good weather 🙂 Thanks for linking up!Emma xxxwww.style-splash.com
Thanks, Emma!
I love the shoes Tiina! The whole look is great, I love a good print mix. Apparently I’m weird too…I can’t stand super cold weather & once the temperatures hit the upper 80’s with humidity I crank up the air & stay inside!Debbie http://www.fashionfairydust.com
Thanks, Debbie!
