Valentine’s Day…
A special day to keep greeting card companies in business. Or a day to gaze into the eyes of your soulmate over a candle-lit dinner. I suppose how you feel about Valentine’s Day depends on whether you’re a romantic or not…
Well, I may have said it before, but I’m probably the most unromantic woman on the planet. Not only that, but I’m cynical, sarcastic and don’t take life seriously… And I don’t need or expect roses or presents or romantic gestures.
But my husband likes all of the above. Yes, he gets me roses, every now and then, but not nearly as often as he would like. He also sends me lovely postcards when he’s away, saying that he misses me. Or that’s what I think it says on the cards; his handwriting is a bit challenging… Anyway, I’m not good at sending letters or postcards, but I email him copies of the bills he needs to pay, or cat videos.
Oh well, he knew what he was getting into when he married me, no need to feel sorry for him.
We are going out
the night before Valentine’s Day, though, to a nice restaurant. But I won’t be wearing this outfit. I don’t know what I’ll be wearing; I don’t plan these things in advance. Besides, who knows what the weather will be like: sleet, snow, rain, icy streets, or all of the above. It doesn’t really matter: it’s winter, the weather is going to be bad, and I will dress accordingly.
What, am I going to pass such a perfect occasion to wear a party dress just because of the weather?!?
Err, yes, I am.
In my book, sleet/snow/icy streets call for winter boots, not heels. We don’t have a car, and any outing requires taking the train / bus / tram and walking. And after a couple of weeks of getting over the flu I really don’t want to risk getting a cold, either. So, it looks as if nothing can separate me from my beloved cashmere sweaters before April. I suppose I will have to try and make boots and cashmere look like a ‘date night’ outfit. We’ll see how it goes.
Outfit details:
cardigan: Brora (old) / t-shirt: H&M / cords: Marks and Spencer /

What are your plans for Valentine’s day?

Lol! I am just like you, totally NOT romantic! I dont understand Valentine sday and I dont want to!
Exactly! There are many ways you can show your appreciation every day, and every day is what counts.
You've been shot TWICE with Cupid's arrow! ;-DJust a t-shirt and cardigan in snow?!!Enjoy your date. xo Jazzy Jack
I just took the coat off for the photo. Trust me, just a couple of minutes without a coat is all I can take…
I understand your attitude about comfort. It's possible to wear comfy clothes that are also stylish. This top is really cute.
Yes, that's my mission: clothes that are comfortable and stylish. But I feel that for the past few weeks I've been ankle deep in either snow or sleet, and that can be bad for motivation…
I think this gorgeous Tshirt would also work very good on a pencil skirt. Perhaps with a jacket? Get changed in the restaurant? Get a taxi?Just some suggestions. You have to throw a bone to your poor husband from time to time haha. (I am like you, unromantic, although I never pass up an opportunity to dress up.)Greetje
Yes, and I have a leather skirt that might be just perfect for it. But I still need a cashmere cardi, I only have summer jackets…And taxis… Darling, this is Finland: a taxi ride from my house would cost at least as much as the dinner, probably more. And it's not that long a ride…
Cutest top ever!! love it!xx, Elisewww.sparkleandslippers.blogspot.com
Thanks! I saw it in the shop and couldn't resist.
I know now when I go to visit Finland I won't be taking any taxis. Eeek. I'm a romantic and so is my husband, so we match up pretty well. Love the shirt and those glasses. bisousSuzanne
Yes, well, lucky for us we live next to the train station (also faster than the taxi).

Thanks, Nicole.
I love the cardi – the colour is so beautiful and I totally understand wanting to be wrapped up in cashmere in the cold weather! Cosy and classy! I will be on a plane on my way to California on Valentine's Day (with my daughter but not my husband!) so I guess we'll celebrate when I get back! Have a nice dinner tonight :)http://www.thevelvetrunway.com
Thanks! Yes, cosy is really important in cold winter weather. Enjoy your trip to California, it sounds just perfect!

Yes, casual all the way. Thanks!
LOL! I send my husband cat and dog videos all of the time too! This is such a fun and chic look for Valentine's Day! Love that bag!JillDoused In Pink
Is there anything more relaxing than cat videos? Just what you need after a long day at work.
how cute! That'S adorable the postcard thing, so nice!! I love the purse, it's really a nice piece.
Yes, he's very sweet, sending me cards. I'm afraid I'm more of a child of the digital era myself and send e-cards.
I love that tee! I am not a romantic either, but chocolate covered anything would be delightful. Have a great day, xo-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
I totally agree: chocolate always works. Maybe instead of Valnetine's Day there should be a Chocolate Day…
I really love the color of your bag!www.amemoryofus.com
It's a very versatile bag, it seems to go with (almost) everything in my wardrobe. And it's big enough for work.
Cute Tee! You know I love the color of your bag. Thank you for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!jess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Well, this blush pink is your colour, isn't it? I would never wear it next to my face, but it works well in accessories.
