I don’t do Boho…
It’s just not me; there’s absolutely nothing hippie about me, never has been. Yes, there are times when I imagine I’m one of those sun-kissed women in magazines, on the beach somewhere, frolicking in the sea wearing one of those floaty dresses and tons of long bead necklaces…
Then I remember that I can’t swim and never sunbathe, and hot weather just makes me want to stick my head into a refrigerator. In other words, the beach is my idea of Hell…
And those floaty dresses… I know women who look glamorous and bewitching and wonderfully creative in their hippie regalia whereas I just look like a crazy woman. And that much fabric flying around drives me crazy. Besides, my ideal hot weather outfit is a bucket full of ice cubes on my head…
What this rather lengthy introduction is trying to say is that this is about as Boho as I will ever get. But hey, I’m wearing a silk kimono, with fringe! And I’m breaking my own style rules (= no more than one pink item per outfit), doesn’t that count?
OK, fine, so it’s more Chic than Boho, but I think the outfit should fit the woman, not the other way round…

What about you, do you like Boho Chic?

That bucket of ice sounds wonderful right now! You did a beautiful job here adding just a touch of the boho look, and remaining true to your own style. xox-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thanks, Patti.
This works on you! Yes, it's not your natural style but I believe the pink color-scheme makes it suit you. Very pretty.
Thanks, Ally. Yes, pink always works. It's one of my favourite colours, too.
Love this! I think Ally might like to borrow this whole outfit from you. bisousSuzanne
Thanks, Suzanne! I think this is one of my favourite outfits, too.
I love this on you! Very pretty!
Thanks, Nancy!
You look super good in this dress. Sexy yet sophisticated. Beautiful kimono too.Of course I want you in high heels with this but that ain't gonna happen, is it? haha.Greetje
Thanks, Greetje.Heels? No, not going to happen. My feet can't stand them, not even for a few hours.
Thought so.
I love how you've created a classier bohemian style to fit your personal style! Brilliant!Isobel xLatest post: http://goo.gl/obiI0BLatest Video: https://goo.gl/h1wuqJInsta: https://goo.gl/WGxKx2Bloglovin: https://goo.gl/EG8OQW

I feel better that you think the beach is hell. I am tired of pretending to be someone I am not…all this oh, summer is fabulous…oh, I just love the beach…oh, being outside is so good for you…if temperatures are breaking 60 degrees Fahrenheit, then bugs come out, allergens run amok, and it starts to get too stinking hot for my perimenopausal self. So I am saying it right here in your comments…I hate being outdoors! I am very content inside my house enjoying the view from the window!By the way, you look marvelous in this super chic pink outfit. That kimono is stunning and the dress is super flattering. I love the boho look as well, but when I try it, I somehow appear about 10 sizes larger than I actually am. Not that I'm ashamed of my body or weight, but I certainly don't need to make it look larger than it already is!Shelbeewww.shelbeeontheedge.com
I hear you… Hot weather, allergies, bugs… Summer is nice, but I prefer it on the cool side.Boho looks can be a bit tricky to pull off. Yes, all that fabric adds bulk and there's the crazy gypsy woman look… I prefer something a bit more streamlined, it works better with my body shape and proportions.
Thanks for linking up, Tiina!
You look lovely! You've pulled off the boho look really wellGreta | http://style-spiral.blogspot.co.uk/
Thanks, Greta!
Couldn't agree more – the outfit should fit the woman and not the other way round. Wise words indeed. And I'm also completely agree with you about boho BUT you've absolutely captured the spirit of it with your kimono and made it your own. What a stunning kimono it is too and I love the pink on pink!Following my How to Style a Maxi Shirt 3 Ways, I'm taking up the challenge of styling culottes 3 ways. They can be tricky garments, even more so if you're a petite but here are 3 styles – casual, smart and office.http://petitesilvervixen.blogspot.co.uk/
Thanks! Yes, boho can be a bit overwhelming on a petite woman. But my own style is also more classic, and I prefer clean lines and simple shapes (hmm, so very Nordic of me…)
Super! I wear similar outfits sometimes – a classy dress or skirt with a fringed colorful shawl. I love mixing different styles, and you've done it beautifully. Perfect colors on you, as always!
Thanks, Natalia. I get you: contrasting something simple and body skimming with something fun and playful.
Your boho chic is perfect and suits your style , nothing wrong with chic. Two pinks ,not a problem, they are always so good on you. With your fair skin I can see why the sun is a no go zone.
Thanks, Jill.I'm actually getting a bit tanned, i.e. I'm not quite so pale. But I still need to point this out, people don't seem to notice my tan…
You have pulled this look off brilliantly! great sunnies ..
Thank you, Celia.
Love the kimono adding a touch of boho to your look, the pink is a pefect color on you. I do like fringed gladiator sandals, some sundresses.. Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesdayjess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thanks, Jessica! I agree, pink is the perfect colour for me, even if I say so myself. It's also my favourite colour these days. It has taken me a long time, though, to discover pink. I never wore pink as a little girl!
Gorgeous colors. You look so pretty! I love the kimono for a hit of boho. Great way to wear the trend but stay true to yourself. xx-S
Thanks, Shannon. I love these colours, too. I guess you could say they're my 'power colours'.
Lovely bright colours, so like pink. I've got a gorgeous little pink blouse that I recently bought. May have to bring that out again to style. Jacquiwww.mummabstylish.com
Pink is such a wonderful positive colour, we could all need a dose of that.
Sophisticated glam with just a touch of boho charm … perfect on you! Of course you know I'm a hippie a heart, so boho comes naturally to me. For me, it's preppy that's hard to pull off. I love that we all have our own personal styles and can appreciate each other's! BTW, you look FAB in hot pink! Thanks for linking up with Fun Fashion Friday!OXOXDawn Lucyhttp://fashionshouldbefun.blogspot.com
A little bit goes a long way… Some styles just 'feel' more natural, easier to pull off (for me it's either preppy or rock) but that doesn't mean we couldn't experiment, add a touch of something else to an otherwise 'typical' outfit.
Pink is such a great color on you! Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you soon! Alicewww.happinessatmidlife.com
Thanks, Alice!
I love how it turned out! For someone that doesn't do boho you certainly nailed it with elegance. Would love if you can link up to http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2016/07/05/home-decor-tips-designer-look-less/
