How did we get here? It’s almost the end of August!
And the end of summer… Because while life still feels like Groundhog Day on steroids, it’s the seasonal changes that force us to realise that time has not stopped.
Still, my days follow the familiar pattern: wake up late, some work (on the sofa, mostly) till early (OK, mostly late) evening, followed by an evening walk in the park. But the walks are shorter now, and we have to make an effort to finish work early enough to take photos before sunset. In case you’re wondering, sunset is before 9 pm now, and the evenings are getting darker.
And how do I choose my outfits for these evening walks / photo shoots?
Well, I’d like to say I challenge my creativity by matching carefully selected items from my meticulously curated collection of killer accessories with some long-unworn gems from my wardrobe. But that would be a lie.
No, the truth is, I take 5-10 minutes to put on some make up (= lipstick and powder), rummage trough my wardrobe to see what matches (more or less), then add a pair of sunnies, grab a bag and go. If I’m feeling a bit more ambitious, I choose a pair of earrings to go with the outfit (which is a lot easier than you think: I only have 3 or 4 pairs…)
Yes, my dear reader, that is the amount of styling that goes into these photos. Professor M (my husband / photographer) often works late, as do I, and if we want to get any photos taken (not to mention go for a walk or do the grocery shopping) while there’s still some light, we must hurry.
But, I choose to see it as an exercise on streamlining my grooming and dressing routine: if I can get ready in 10-15 minutes, that can’t be a bad thing, can it?

How long do you take to ‘get ready’ these days?

You sound like me: except I do not bother with makeup! I usually grab my oldest and tell him, it’s not too sunny let’s get some pictures taken!
Love your fun tee and shoes!

That sounds perfect! And that’s what makes blogs so much better than fashion magazines: they show real life style instead of fantasy style. Not that there’s anything wrong with fantasies, every once in a while, but we all live in the real world most of the time.
Totally fabulous attitude, and I really like the idea of dressing up in 10-15min and then go out for a walk in the evening and enjoy the beautiful sunset light!
You look fab and I love your purple sneakers, such a joyful piece! (purple is a fab color!). Your tshirt is such an eye-catching piece!.
Usually, it takes me 5 minutes to dress up and then I spend 10 minutes picking accessories. The thing I like most about the summer is that I put on a dress and a pair of sandals and grab my bag (always the same one!), and I’m ready to go!.

Thanks!
I love summer dressing for precisely that reason: you can wear a dress and just add some accessories and you’re good to go. Just one piece, it can’t get easier than that. In winter it is so much more complicated: you need layers to protect you from the weather (or snow, wind etc) when you go out but indoors it’s warm you’re baking…
Great casual little outfit, the trainers are very pretty, sure you get lots of nice comments about them. Jacqui x

Thanks, Jacqui. The shoes are by a designer who is rather well-known and popular in Finland, so they’re usually instantly recognised.
I can’t believe it’s almost September, either! And suddenly I’m 21 weeks pregnant??? I feel like it was just the first trimester and here we are, over halfway there already. I’m so ready for fall to come, though, the heat is never my friend and especially not now when I’m running hot anyway!

Oh, wow! It’s going to be an exciting autumn for you, then.
It’s great you have streamlined the process! 🙂 I have no idea how much time it takes me to get ready as I am never uninterrupted when I do it – haha! I’m simultaneously getting the two boys fed and dressed and often packing lunchboxes too! It’s why I try plan my outfits the night before – as I don’t have a lot of time in the mornings!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you had a great weekend! 🙂

I guess in your case you must be very organised, otherwise you’d never get dressed and out of the door 😉
Tiina, I just swooned a bit over your fabulous sneakers! And I love that purple tee on you. This is a perfectly styled outfit in my opinion. And good for you for being able to pull it all together so brilliantly in 10-15 minutes!

Thanks! This was a really quick, spontaneous photo shoot after a long day working. I was actually a bit surprised the photos turned out so well, so I had to post them.
