I’m a stripe-a-holic…

Breton stripes over 40

So, I went shopping…

And I got another Breton top… Seriously, what’s wrong with me???

HELP!

Is there a support group or a 12-step programme for stripe-a-holics?!?

OK, time to face the facts: I’m an addict. For me, a stripy top is like chocolate: I can’t pass it up. Hmm, maybe I’m addicted to chocolate, too. (Well, it’s Easter; it’s sort of normal to gobble up an Easter egg. Or two. Or five… OK, fine, I’m a chocoholic, too…)

It’s just that some addictions make you feel so good…

You know what, I think the best way to deal with these type of rather harmless addictions is to just own them. Head first. But instead of trying to ‘fix’ them, we should embrace them. After all, that’s what we do with our neuroses, too: embrace them and call them ‘quirks’ and hope that other people find them adorable. Or, that failing, at least charmingly eccentric.

So, I’m going to give in to my addiction to Breton stripes, and you can expect to see them popping up at (more or less) regular intervals on the blog. Let’s call it Tiina’s  ‘signature style‘. It sounds so much better, don’t you think?

So, tell me, what’s your addiction?

I agree with you a thousand percent! Most of our midlife "addictions" are just happy hobbies. As long as not Schedule I substances are involved, I think we can indulge. And your new striped top is great! xox-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com

No, absolutely nothing wrong with it. But I still think I need to experiment with other patterns, too. Maybe I need a dose of florals…

I think most of us are drawn to one type of clothing , for some white shirts , jackets for me and stripes for you.Enjoy that chocolate .

Your jackets are fabulous. If only stripes came in as many styles as your jackets…

Don't you worry about your addiction to stripes. I bought a white sweater with red stripes one week (wearing it as I type this) and the next week I bought a slightly longer one, cream with red stripes. I love stripes too.I am wearing my white with red one today on boyfriend jeans with red patent leather pumps underneath it and my husband called the outfit: very St.Tropez…Your outfit also looks darned good. Another winner. Love that scarf with it as well. What does it say on the shirt? Eager? Is that why you wear that scarf haha.Greetje

Yes shopping and chocolate are terrible addictions. I go through phases with shopping, if there is a purpose like shopping for my house, I have a hard tiem waiting to say ok I DON'T need to buy everything at once. I kinda end up all at the same time and rack up in debt. But then I'll go sober for a good while to get my standing good with my credit card (and husband lol).

  23. Tiina L
    4 April 2016 / 12:39 pm

It's quite a dilemma isn't it? Can't afford to get everything you want at once, but if you wait and save, the stuff you wanted is no longer available…
