The weather has been all over the place recently: snow, rain, sunshine… OK, the last one has been in short supply… But when the sun does make a rare appearance, there’s not a moment to waste. If we want to get somewhat decent photos for the blog, I mean.
Thus, these photos were taken half an hour before sunset (which would be around 3.30 pm. Yeah, really…), on the way to a Christmas Market and then to dinner at a restaurant with hubby.
Because of the fickle (= wet, cold, disgusting) weather, I’ve been living in cashmere knits paired with jeans or cords lately, and I’m getting a bit tired of that. No, let’s rephrase that: I’m beginning to forget what it’s like to wear nice clothes. And by nice I mean a dress, or a skirt. Something stylish.
So, a day with a bit of sunshine for change was just the incentive I needed…
Oh, and as I like to be prepared for anything Mother Nature might throw at us, I’m wearing both sunglasses and wellies (or rubber boots for my American readers).
Aren’t these ankle boots just the coolest thing ever? They’re also very comfortable (as far as anything made of rubber can be comfortable), and they keep my feet dry.
Yes, I might be dying to wear a bit more stylish outfits for change, but that doesn’t mean compromising on comfort. And that means footwear has to be both functional (= in sync with the fickle weather) and fit for the occasion.
Outfits details:
coat: Hobbs (old) / skirt: Esprit / top: Caroll /
bag: Burberry (old) / ankle boots: Nevada Nero / sunglasses: Marc Jacobs
How do you dress for the weather?

Fantastic boots! I like the hole outfit!
Thanks, Nancy!
Im loving that blue tone on you! Considering buying some similar boots very soon!bestest wishesashley x
Thanks, Ashley. Funny, many people call this colour blue. I see it as more green… Well, it's teal, a little bit of both, I guess.
The Teal coloured coat is gorgeous. I love the Hobbs brand too xx
Thanks, Laurie.
I'm 100% with you on footwear! And I really like this sunny day look. Thanks for linking up, xo-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thanks, Patti. Sunny days are getting so rare now…
Great boots, certainly the most stylish rain boots I have ever seen. Looking your usual stylish self despite the weather challenges.
Thanks, Jill. I saw the boots in a shop window, and I just had to get them. I've been wearing them almost non-stop since ten.
Gorgeous coat colour. I have one that colour. Yep fab boots http://www.muttonstyle.com
Thanks, Anna. I love this colour, too.
Great layers! I am all about layers when it comes to dressing for unpredictable weather, too.
Thanks. Although I don't actually consider this layering. after all, I'm just wearing a skirt and top. And a coat, of course, but that's a necessity in winter. My approach to layering is less is more: if I get cold, I get a warmer coat.
It's all about layers for me at this time of year too!! Love this!!XOXOJodiewww.jtouchofstyle.com
Thanks, Jodie.Funny, I don't see this as layering… It's too cold to go out without a coat, but I never wear more than one layer of clothes under the coat.
Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style linkup party. the gray and fuchsia look great together. I love your studded booties. So cool!
Thanks, Nicole.
This is such a cute outfit! I love that you paired your bright colored top with a neutral skirt, and pulled it all together with your long coat. This is definitely the perfect look for winter. Thank you for linking up this week!~xo ShereePoshClassyMom.com
Thanks, Sheree.
I really love that coat! The color is beautiful and the shape is so classic!http://www.mylittlenest.org
Thanks! It's one of my favourite coats, mainly because of the classic style: it's so versatile, it goes with anything.
Love the metallic bag with your look and I your coat is fantastic! If i lived somewhere cold, i would be buying a teal coat myself. lovely look!thanks for linking!jess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thanks, Jessica. Yes, living in a cold climate means investing in a few good coats. I say a few because winter lasts a long time…
I love your teal top with your colourful knit, and add in that printed scarf and you've got a cute and cheerful winter outfit! 🙂 I notice myself slipping into jeans ruts when it's cold or wet weather – it's good having the blog so I can see the progression and do something to switch up my outfits a little and try get my mojo back, haha! Hope you had a fun time at the markets :)Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and your Christmas preparation is going well. After a crazy week I managed to wrap some presents which is good, although (as always!) I've run out of tape!Away From The Blue Blog
Thanks, Mica. Yes, the market was lovely. I'll have another post on Christmas markets coming up a bit later. This is the season, after all.I wear jeans a lot in winter, too. Or cords (they're warmer). I do find it boring at times, but I find it's pointless to fight the weather. In winter I dress for comfort and warmth. And in spring I just want to burn all my jeans, I'm so fed up with them.
