Hot Weather Casuals

hot weather casual outfit

So, it’s summer, and it’s hot… I know we’re supposed to be happy and carefree and love every minute of it, but I’m not a fan of hot weather…

Of course, my definition of ‘hot weather’ may differ from yours, so let me be clear here: anything over 25°C / 77°F is too hot for me. And it was about 30°C / 86°F when these pictures were taken (near our house in the U.K.)…

And what you see here is a middle-aged woman who is feeling really uncomfortable, wondering whether it might be possible to sleep in the refrigerator…

And my face was melting! Probably it was just my makeup, but still… I wear very little makeup most of the time, and usually nothing but lipstick when it’s hot. But for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to wear some BB cream (mainly because it had SPF 30) for the photos. However, I don’t think there was much of it left after the first ten minutes in the sun…

Oh, and the sun umbrella is not a prop; it’s my sun protection…

And it’s not just wearing makeup that’s problematic on a hot day. I always struggle to find anything to wear. Especially since I prefer clothes that protect me from the sun (I have very fair skin that does not tan but burns very easily). So, I often end up wearing something like this. Very casual, maybe even sloppy, sort a version of the classic ratty t-shirt and shorts combo, just with a bit more sun protection. I know: it’s not much of a style statement, but quite frankly I couldn’t care less about style when my face is melting…

oh yes, it's hard to dress up when it's hot!, comfort is the very most important thing when summer arrives!. I like your comfy style, light colors, summery textures, coolness!I'm not a huge fan of high temperatures, but I manage temperatures under 35ºc, that's when I consider it's really hot!. I could even be happy in the heat if the nights were chilly, I hate those awful 25ºC in the night!besos & cool

Oh yes, it's awful when it's hot at night! And sometimes having air conditioning on is just as bad and you end up with a cold…

Oh I love the hot weather! Only not at night! I prefere to wear dresses with this weather. Or shorts if I don t have to go out!

Dresses work, too, especially maxi dresses (for sun protection), as long as they're not clingy.

I agree that hot weather is uncomfortable. I don't know why people think Summer is so great. You're right about fashion taking a back-seat to comfort when we're struggling to stay cool. The sun-umbrella is, however, a cool style touch.

Well, it's the same problem with hot weather and very cold weather: how to stay stylish yet comfortable, isn't it? The sun-umbrella is actually my sun protection (I hate wearing sun screen). I have several of them, but this one is my favourite because it's the biggest. I also have a really cool black one (which I've never shown on the blog. Hmm…) and a folded travel sun umbrella.

Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style linkup party. I love when you wear an umbrella on sunny days in summer. It is so your signature. It looks so cook!

Thanks, Nicole. The sun umbrella is such a useful thing to have. This one has some sort of UV protective coating on it, and it's really thick cotton and can double as an umbrella, too, if it rains.

I am one of those weird people that love really hot weather! The hotter the better! I totally get what you mean with the makeup situation though… sometimes it just melts right off.Thank you for linking up with Weekend WearxoMel

I wish I could just just manage to feel somewhat comfortable, but the truth is that on a hot day I tend to stay indoors…

Thank you. I really struggle with hot weather, and finding something nice to wear is so difficult.
