2019
What will the new year bring: new hopes and dreams, or just more of the same old, same old?
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. Or plan drastic life changes. And I don’t think there’s a particular time of the year that requires reflection, whether about the past or the future. Change takes place all the time, whether we notice it or not.
Besides, I think we should learn to live in the present. Perhaps that should be my New Year’s resolution: live in the present, notice what’s around me. If I was going to make New Year’s resolutions, that is…
On another note…
I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what I’ve been up to lately (in case you haven’t been following my photo journal on Instagram).
So, 2 weeks in Madeira: the sun, some rain, the sea, the mountains… Although you can’t really see the mountains in the photo as it was really cold and foggy the day we visited Eira do Serrado, and I didn’t really take any pictures. I’m linking the post I wrote last year because then it was nice and sunny and the pictures are lovely. And I was wearing (almost) the exact same outfit, hmm…
As this isn’t my first (or second, or fifth…) trip to Madeira, there’s very little I can say about it that I haven’t already said in earlier posts over the years, though.
Of course there will be some holiday wardrobe posts, after I get back to ‘normal life’ next week. Given that it’s mid-winter (and cold and snowy in Finland), I hope to ward off winter melancholy by posting a few nice, easy-breezy summery outfits in the coming weeks. I don’t know about you, but mid-winter always makes me a bit depressed, and I need some inspiration to remind me that spring is just around the corner.
But until then (next week, that is) I want to get back to being on holiday, just for a little while.
Have you made any New Year’s resolutions?
Tiina

Happy New Year, Jacqui!
I like adding in color to my outfits this time of year. It makes it a little less depressing!

Thanks! It’s been a busy week so far, but I’m determined to make the most of the rest of the year.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too. Great photos. You are right. January 1 or December 31 are just days like July 8 or 9, whatsoever. One can change bad habits any time as well as start something new any time. Yes, reflection also would be best several times a year than just at the end.

Happy New Year, Nicole!
Hi Happy New Year!! Madeira looks so beautiful! Parents of a good friend of mine came from Madeira. I didn’t realize how pretty it was there. I’m not into New Year’s resolutions but I do tend to do one thing around New Years and that’s to declutter closets and my house in general. I’ve just finished clearing my book shielf and a closet where I had no room left for coats because of old coats left in there and not worn any more. I feel like it’s a good time to do “indoor” things like that when the weather is cold. Hope you had a wonderful vacation. Glad to see you back blogging again. Arlene from US – NJ

Happy New Year, Arlene!
Madeira is really beautiful, so many different flowers, even in winter!
And decluttering, you’re right, that sounds perfect! I’ve been wanting to do that for ages (but haven’t had the time, or energy). I donate really know where to start, though, as I feel like just getting rid of half of my stuff…
Madeira looks beautiful, those flowers. November is the month I dislike most in spite of my birthday being then. I might think of going to Madeira next Winter. Happy New Year.

Happy New Year, Flora! You’d love it there, Madeira is so beautiful, and not too hot.
Happy New Year Tiina. Madeira looks wonderful, I can easily see why you love to visit . I can understand how your Winter must seem long and dark, ours are mild by comparism. Its rather hot and sticky here at present so I would welcome a cool change.

Happy New Year, Jill!
Yes, winter is long, dark and depressing. I need get away, from it every now and then, see the sun for a while. But it’s getting easier now: it’s getting colder, but at least the days are getting longer again.
I don’t make resolutions, but I do spend some time journaling at the start of the year and try to pick a theme word. I’m still working on just one word. so far the short list includes; JOY and ELEVATE…but it’s still a work in progress 🙂
Thanks for linking up at Stylish Monday!
