I got back to rainy Britain and Homebase 2 this afternoon, after a week in South Korea. I think I was suffering from a major case of jet-lag for most of the week, waking up at odd hours, feeling sleepy all day… and I suppose I can look forward to more of the same this coming week. Oh well, I’m on holiday, it’s not like I have to seem coherent and intelligent and make sense…
This was again one of our ‘business + pleasure’ trips: Professor M had a meeting and a conference to attend, I was supposed to ‘do the touristy thing’ (and we all know how bad I am at that: there’s a reason why I call myself a Bad Tourist…), and then we had a couple of days to explore Seoul on our own.

There was also that hurried work lunch and a campus tour when I was expected to put on my best ‘Professor’s Wife’ act… This sort of thing doesn’t happen very often as we’re both very determined to keep our private relationship separate from work, but this time it couldn’t be avoided. And I’m sure my husband finds it just as stressful as I do. Not least because I’m a bit of a loose cannon in the sense that I suffer no fools gladly and tend to express my opinions in a rather straightforward way (but only when I’m not working; my work persona is the paragon of politeness, endlessly supportive and oh-so-charming… anything I’m not in real life…)
But rest assured, I was on my best behaviour and asked all the right questions and made witty comments to keep the conversation going (which is a tall order for a Finn: we’re not exactly known for our conversational skills… So, basically I was ‘cheating’ and reverted back to my professional role…).
Oh, and notice that I’m a bit tanned in these photos? Yes, I know, you have this irresistible urge to burst out laughing now, but given that my skin is normally the shade of a blank sheet of paper, this is about as ‘tanned’ as I get…

Linking up with Patti for
Seoul! How fun! You do look very summery in your water color dress and that necklace is beautiful. Welcome back home.
Thank you, Connie. It's nice to be back to Homebase 2, for a while… (Homebase 1 next week).
Welcome home, you look lovely despite any jet lag! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
Aww….you're an adorable professor's wife! One of my close friends happen to be a Fin and her direct manner is actually one of the things I appreciate about her. I hope the jet lag wears off soon….have a lovely week and thank you for your lovely comment!May x http://www.walkinginmay.com
Thanks, I try my best… I'm just not very good at playing the accompanying wife… I find it very stressful, not sure of what is expected of me, and trying to remember to keep my opinions to myself…
Lucky you …traveling is so much fun. Love your purse!!! Thanks for stopping by :)x Ninahttp://trendsurvivor.com
Thanks, Nina. Yes, travelling can be fun. Also exhausting…
I woulldn't mind being there. My brother travels everywhere in the world for his job. Love the color on you beautiful combination of purple and turquoise!from the link up, jessplease stop byhttp://www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thanks Jess, I love these colours, too.
I can imagine the jetlag.. Britain and Seoul, now that's almost a world apart! I've never been to Seoul actually but everytime my husband comes back from there he would bring back this nice little rice dumpling with red bean fillings inside. I am always a happy girl when he does that 😉 You look good, even if the tan is not that visible on screen.. I'm sure you know your skin better sweetie but the purplish pink is stunning on your skin tone!
Yes, this jet-lag makes the two-hour time difference between Finland and the U.K. seem like a joke…I have been waking up in the middle of the night at odd hours and falling asleep in the afternoon for over a week now, walking around like a zombie, with a foggy head…
Pretty look! Love the fuchsia with the blue!OXOXDawn Lucyhttp://fashionshouldbefun.blogspot.com
Thanks, these are my favourite colours. At the moment, anyway.
Welcome home, hope the jetlag has sorted itself. You were indeed the perfect polite Professors wife, well done. Your dress , shrug and shoes, such pretty colours on you.
Thanks Jill. I always feel like such a fraud when I have to attend some sort of a function with my husband, and usually I try my best to get out of it…
Well, you look completely charming even if you had to bite your tongue bloody, Tiina! Sometimes, it's just an exercise in spousal support, and I hope you were properly rewarded for having his back at the social requirement! So glad you were able to have some free time to roam and enjoy!
Thanks, Jan. Yes, I guess that's it: supporting your spouse… I guess I'm just not used to being seen as an appendix of someone else… coming from a long line of fierce, independent women…
