The Favourite Dress

maxi dress over 50

This is my favourite dress

At least, the favourite of the moment. Or the season. But I’m sure you knew that already. I stopped counting the times I’ve featured this dress long ago, and  I’m sure you must be bored out of your mind to see it. Still, I’m going to post it again. And this probably won’t be the last time. Just saying…

But what is it that I like about this dress so much?

Well, it’s simple, really. The dress, I mean. It’s so simple and practical, and it can be styled in so many ways. On a hot day I just add a shirt (to protect my arms from the sun; to say I burn easily would be the understatement of the century). And on a cooler day, or in the evening, I just add a cardigan.

It works with both gold and silver accessories, and it can be sporty or elegant. Now, if that isn’t the perfect dress, I don’t know what is!

And I have worn this dress at least 2-3 times every week this summer. That’s much more than I’ve worn any of my other clothes (and believe me, I keep rewearing all my clothes till they fall apart).

And now, as we’re headed to autumn, I like the dress with a light-weight hoodie (perfect for those darker, cooler early autumn evenings) and gold-tone accessories. I find that gold adds little bit of warmth to the navy and white colour combo and makes this plain and simple outfit a bit more sophisticated. What do you think?

I think wearing ones clothes until they fall apart is how it should be, although most people don’t. I try not to be too judgmental but when I read blogs where perfectly good clothes are donated all the time it does not sit so well with me. Good on you, show us repeated wears with slight tweaks, this is valuable inspiration.

      Thank you!
I think fast fashion is on the way out. Slowly, sure, but there’s no doubt that people are beginning to see their consumption habits in a different light. There’s no return to the throw-away culture anymore, and we’re all better off because of it, and not only financially.

I think it’s ok (and even desirable) to wear your clothes until they fall apart. It means that they actually work, fit you nicely and make you feel fab!.
This dress is lovely and ticks all the right boxes, so no wonder you’ve kept on wearing it every week. Love that it’s a versatile piece, easy to mix and match, and it goes nicely with your casual hoody and minimal accessorizing!.
Really inspiring to keep on wearing my own favourites!
    besos

Yes, with limited storage space and limited funds, it is really important to have clothes that can be worn over and over again and styled in new ways endlessly. I find it also makes life easier to have a wardrobe full of multitasking basics.

I think this combination is a winner of the recent outfits featuring this dress. And I really do get inspiration from your blog as you rewear what you have and yet each time you show us very different outfits. Thanks for sharing them! -q

Thank you! I’m a minimalist at heart, and I find a small wardrobe easier to manage. It has taken me a while to get to the point where I can actually mix and match most of my clothes, but I find it very rewarding as it makes life a bit easier when everything else is so hectic and chaotic.

Mica I think you should definitely keep rewearing it! A classic dress like this goes with so many things, as you pointed out, so it makes sense to rewear it a lot! it’s so nice wearing dresses in the warmer months too when you don’t have to layer too much, such a simple quick outfit 🙂

Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!
