Style bloggers are usually photographed when they’re at their best: the perfect outfit, flawless make-up, not a hair out of place. And I’m no exception.
OK, we both know that when it comes to my hair, it’s usually all over the place. And for me, make-up means some lipstick and maybe some eye shadow…
But I usually try to make an effort with the outfit. Of course, it shouldn’t look like I’ve made too much of an effort; it should look as if it all sort of fell into place effortlessly, almost by accident. Between you and me, effortless style is harder than it sounds. Even if I learned from the best: my mother was the queen of effortless chic, and I know that it always took her hours in front of the mirror and lots of tweaks to get everything just right.
But even a style blogger needs a day off: nobody can think about their outfits (or hair, or make-up) all the time. And I admit that I don’t really care what I’m wearing when I go to the supermarket. Or if I go anywhere in my own neighbourhood, for that matter. What does that say about me: I can’t be bothered to look nice (or somewhat presentable, whatever) unless I have to take the train or the bus to go somewhere?
Well, this is what I was wearing for an evening walk in our own neighbourhood, half an hour before sunset. That was after a (more or less) rigorous workout in the gym (5 minutes away), a shower, and a nap (with wet hair) on the sofa. Hubby woke me up to remind me that I’d promised to go for a walk with him, and that he would like to take some photos, too…
So, I just put something on, put on some lipstick (there’s no way you’ll photograph me without lipstick) and grabbed an umbrella.
Effortless? For sure. Chic? Who cares. Good enough for an evening walk? You bet.

I do! Lipstick and big earrings even if I have wadded my hair into a bun! I feel good so who cares about the rest. Love your blog.

That sounds good! I also wear lipstick if I go a bit further from home (I just about manage to get to the neighbourhood shop without it).
Well you look pretty darn pulled together to me! Definitely not how I look on my walks for sure.

Thanks, Shelly, that’s so sweet of you to say.
You do look fabulous, your walk looks super, love the colour mixes – thanks for sharing on #chicandstylish Jacqui Mummabstylish

Thanks, Jacqui. This looks like a nature trail, but it’s actually just by the busy street 10 minutes from where I live.
You look lovely! π Such a colourful outfit for a walk in the rain π
I tend to default to jeans and a tee if I’m not feeling up to taking photos – the difference when I’m thinking of taking a photo is that I’ll ad an accessory or two, and a bag – I carry the baby bag only if i’m just going out to walk the dogs and don’t feel that deserves an outfit or to document it, haha!
Hope that you had a lovely weekend!
Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp π

Thanks, Mica!
Why not document the dog walking outfit? And the dogs, too. Real life is interesting, and something most people can relate to.
Iβm going to call it effortlessly adorable! The perfect outfit for a walk. Sometimes these are my favorite outfits…when I just throw something on…with lipstick, of course, because I donβt like being photographed without it either. I absolutely love your umbrella, too. I need some new umbrellas!

Ah, thank you! So sweet of you. Yes, sometimes the best outfits are the ones we don’t even think about, they just come together without much effort or thought, somehow organically.
