Accessories can make or break an outfit
That’s what I tell myself, anyway. Because when I cannot find clothes I like in shops, I turn my attention to accessories…
You’ve seen the bag (many times) and the cashmere scarf (I bought it a couple of weeks ago; I really needed a scarf in a solid colour for change). And you’ve definitely seen the sunglasses (the current favourite). So what’s new here?
Well, the gloves, of course.
When you think of accessories, do you see them as something to add as the ‘final touch’, with mainly a decorative function?
I don’t see accessories this way (except maybe jewellery, which I seldom wear these days). My accessories are always functional. For example, I have bags of varying sizes, for different occasions. I wouldn’t want to carry what I consider a ‘work bag’ (= a tote) when I’m off duty, Instead, I prefer a smaller bag or a crossbody bag. However, all of them must be big enough to hold what I consider ‘necessities’. And I wouldn’t dream of leaving home without a pair of sunglasses on a sunny day, or even on a cloudy day (I have sensitive eyes). And gloves… Well, a good pair of gloves is is a must when you live in a cold climate.
Anyway, I’ve been planning to replace my favourite pair of gloves for a while now as they’re beginning to show some wear and tear. And of course I wanted something similar in style…
Naturally, I have more than one pair of gloves. I have gloves in several colours, too. And I think I even have several pairs of gloves with metal accents.
What I really wanted to find this time was gloves with cashmere lining (because it’s not itchy, unlike wool). Well, these gloves have a cashmere-wool mix lining, so close enough. And they go well with the bag and sunglasses, too, which is always good.

Accessories are always a part of my outfit , be it a hat , gloves or jewellery. Sunglasses are important for me as I too have sensitive eyes, I do like your Ninna Ricci ‘s. I often use accessories to ring the changes in my outfits. Your new gloves are so great and will work with everything. Finding interesting gloves here is limited so I often find them when I travel, a useful souvenier too. Have a good week .

Well, you are a master at accessorizing… I seem to be collecting accessories, too, even though I try to limit how many bags or pairs of sunglasses I get. I also find it’s a lot more difficult for me to get rid of old accessories than clothes…
Interesting your comments about jewelry. I seldom wear them anymore, and I’m not sure why. I feel that the bag, the sunnies and bits like your wrap and gloves for cold times, are more current.

Yes, I’ve realised I seem to be wearing less and less jewellery. In summer it was too hot, and now I just haven’t felt like it. Maybe I should make more of an effort…
I love your new gloves. I do add accessories to my outfits because I wear alot of solid colors and I need something to bring my outfits to life. You are a genius with accessories. You have an eye for what’s going to make your outfits pop.
Me, not so much. I usually just add sunglasses and maybe some hoop earrings and a nice bag. I am mostly dressed on a daily basis very casually these days and sometimes I feel like my clothes are boring without some accessories. I guess I do see my accessories as the “final touch”. Thanks, Arlene. I’ve always loved accessories. I often prefer to dress in simple trousers and t-shirts, but I need to have a nice bag. And sunglasses, of course. Other than that, I don’t really think about what to add; that’s usually determined by the weather. A scarf and gloves are simply necessary when it gets cold…
I really enjoy a scarf – come the cold weather and I am delighted to be flinging one about my person, earrings I wear fairly often but other jewellery, not so much (too lazy), I hardly ever wear gloves – except when it is really perishing as I have such hot hands, even in Scotland, I might however succumb to fingerless mitts when it gets really cold, they are also fun to knit for someone like me with a short attention span.

Oh yes, a good scarf is a must when it gets cold. Or even when it’s not so cold but just windy. I also tend go without gloves quite often, until it gets just too cold (= around +5 or so) without them. I find that the wool lining in gloves makes the skin on my hands very dry.
Fingerless mittens are quite practical in cooler weather, especially if you’re taking photos and can’t really wear full gloves. I have a couple of pair of these in cashmere, and I love them!
you totally rock your accessories, they always enhance the colors or add interest, texture or are simply cool!. I do love a scarf or shawl, they’re practical and add a touch of color near my face, which is well needed!.
And I love your gloves and think they’re really elegant and cool!.

Oh, you so kind, thanks.
Oh yes, scarves are great for adding colour (and for keeping warm, of course). I also need some colour near my face, otherwise I’d look like a ghost.
I am so jealous of that fall color and the fact that it’s cool enough for a coat! It will be 90 again here tomorrow.

Thanks, Shelly!
The fall colours are nice; the cool weather less so. It’s OK now, but I’m dreading the long (and dark) winter).
I am big a fan of how accessories can make an outfit! I like to choose basic pieces…like jeans and a tee shirt and turn them into something fabulous with grand accessories! I absolutely love this color combination. Your coat is beautiful and I really need more solid color scarves myself. I am definitely lusting after your gorgeous burgundy cashmere scarf. Love your sunglasses, that fun fringed bag, and those sassy gloves. I live in a very cold climate as well so I need gloves to go with all of my outfits. They are definitely an important wardrobe staple for me. Great look, great post! Thanks for linking up with me!

Thanks!
I like my basics, too. They’re just so much more comfortable than something with a complicated cut and all sorts of bells and whistles. Accessories are easy to add, and they can change the whole look instantly.
I’m also trying to find more scarves in solid colours. Not as easy as you’d think, but maybe there are more options available for winter (in cashmere, of course).
While we don’t need gloves here in Brisbane I do agree accessories make an outfit – I like switching out my bags frequently and have so much fun with scarves and necklaces!
Hope that you had a lovely weekend 🙂 Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp 🙂

Scarves are great for adding colour and texture (besides the fact that they keep your arm, of course). I have been neglecting my necklaces, and other jewellery, a bit recently, I should probably wear them more often, too.
What a great idea, and a change of accessories can really make an outfit look different! Nice gloves and that scarf is lovely too! Jacqui xx
