And we’re back to travel wardrobe posts…
By now you’ve seen every piece in this outfit. Some of them a few times (or more). But that’s real life for you: even fashion bloggers have to make do with limited funds wardrobes. Does that mean limited options, too?
Perhaps, but does it really matter in the big scheme of things? I mean, all our ‘options’ in life are ‘limited’ to some extent, either by circumstances or by the choices we make. So, because we play the cards we were dealt in life, might as well do the same with our clothes. Besides, there’s only so much you can fit into a suitcase…
Take shoes, for instance. They take a lot of space in the suitcase. I always take a few pairs (too many), and then I end up wearing just one. Well, on this trip I wore more than just one pair, but there was a clear favourite.
I ended up wearing these white sneakers on most days, simply because they’re proper walking shoes. And that’s what you need in Madeira. I actually got these shoes specifically for this trip. It’s the thick soles: that’s the single most important thing to look for when you know you’re going to be walking a lot. And I really, really love these shoes (and yet I failed to get a close-up, silly me…). So much that when I got back home, I got another pair, in a different colour. Or print, rather.
Oh, wouldn’t you love to see them! But you’ll have to be patient, just like me: it’s winter now, and we have a lot of snow to plow through before we can even dream of spring…
So, let’s talk about this outfit, instead.
I wore this to afternoon tea in a very posh hotel. It’s sort of a tradition Professor M and I have: afternoon tea on Christmas Day. And it seems there’s another tradition in the works, too: I wore a very similar outfit the year before. Well, I wore the exact same t-shirt with a different poncho, but close enough.
Hmm, does that mean I’m stuck in a rut? Or that I get too attached to my favourite clothes? You tell me…
Outfit details:
poncho: Marja Kurki / t-shirt: Custo Barcelona (old) / trousers: Noom /
bag: Coach / shoes: Marimekko / sunglasses: Dolce and Gabbana
How do you know if you’re stuck in a style rut? Any ideas?

lovely poncho and t-shirt combo, I think that these are the kind of pieces which could create an interesting luggage, they're versatile and make you look gorgeous! And I agree with you on thick soles and comfy shoes! so important!besos
Thanks you. I love shoes with thick soles. They're the only type of shoes you need. In fact, I think they should stop making those stupid shoes that hurt of feet. In my opinion, life is too short for shoes you can't walk in.
I think you're in a style rut if you have one outfit that you revert to as a uniform and wear it too much!Beauty & Colour | Vegan Lifestyle Blog

Thanks, Jessica. Madeira is a beautiful island, and Funchal (the island capital) has amazing scenery.
Your graphic tee is beyond amazing! I really like the bright colors and how you have styled it here. Isn't it fun to mix and match what's in our wardrobes for all new looks? Thanks so much for linking up with Fabulous Friday, Tiina!JennieA Pocketful of Polka Dots

I think you're only in a style rut if you are sick of the clothes you wear – even if they are quite varied – but cannot think of anything else you'd prefer to wear. If you are content, it's not a rut at all – it's your style!
