No, not that sort of cruise…
I’m sorry to disappoint you… I meant a Dinner Cruise around the Helsinki archipelago. Yes, we call it archipelago, there are some 300+ islands, after all… No, we didn’t tour them all. Just what you can see in 2.5 hours while having a buffet dinner and some bubbly.
Professor M and I love playing tourists in our own neighbourhood, whether it means island hopping and dinners in summer restaurants or dinner cruises around Helsinki (when in Finland) or day trips to London (in the U.K).
A small boat, a windy day… that calls for a rather casual and relaxed outfit with sturdy shoes. Of course, a wind-proof parka is a must.
And what did we see?
Well, this time we took the more easterly route, with the soundtrack (in Finnish and in English) regaling us with stories about smuggling during the prohibition… To be honest, the scenery is quite similar all around, never mind which route you take. It’s islands of varying sizes, some of them in natural state, some with recreational areas, old villas or holiday homes (often partially hidden from view by trees), or posh houses with docks or beaches.
A lot of these island are open to public, although there are also areas that are private or off-limits (e.g. in military use).
Outfit details:

Do you ever play tourist in your own home town?
Tiina

Helsinki and Finland are definitely on my list of places to visit. Starting this fall I'm moving to Spain to teach English. Throughout my year, I hope to spend time traveling to the parts of Europe I have not seen yet. Your outfit looks comfortable and perfect for a dinner cruise!Ninaaworldofdresses.com
Yes, Finland is definitely worth visiting, especially in summer.Teaching English in Spain sounds like fun. But a lot of hard work, too (speaking of experience here…). And it will be easy to take weekend trips all over Europe, so I'm sure you get to see a lot of new places.
It looks beautiful and fun! And I love the bright colors you paired with the neutrals. Perfect outfit for a boat trip! By the way, I have a new Friday link up…it would be wonderful if you stopped by to check it out!Shelbeehttp://www.shelbeeontheedge.com/a-week-of-the-blues-and-on-the-edge-of-the-week-link-up/
I will definitely check out your link-up, thank you so much for the invitation, Shelbee!
My hubby and I like to explore our area as well. Often times, there are things that we would have missed. Looks like a lovely boat trip and I love the peach scarf and those leopard sunnies! I am looking for some larger prescription sunglasses. Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesdayjess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
