Cool and Casual

casual wear over 40

Simple life…

The weather has been quite wonderful lately: sunny and warm, but not too warm. Yes, that’s an important distinction in my book as I don’t do well with very hot weather (trust me, there’s nothing fun or exciting about a heatstroke…).

Anyway, even the warm-but-not-too-warm weather  makes me prioritize comfort. OK, fine, I’ll admit: never mind the weather, comfort always comes first…

The way I see it, everyday life is complicated enough as it is; there’s no need to add minor nuisances like impractical clothes to the mix.

Besides, I always try to simplify my life as much as possible. Or at least anything under my control. I believe this frees up some head space for the things that really matter in life. Or the problems you have no control over.

What does this have to do with clothes and this outfit? Well, nothing. And everything. This outfit is just another example of me trying to put my money where my mouth is…

Would you believe me if I said I planned this outfit around the necklace?

This is the first time I’m wearing this necklace even though I got it almost 6 moths ago as a souvenir when I was on holiday in Madeira. It’s made of cork. Madeira is famous for cork and all the amazing objects made of this material: bags, shoes, hats, belts, you name it.

Anyway, when I bought the necklace I had no idea what to wear it with. And the colours are a bit unusual for me, too. But I thought it would be a fun piece to wear in summer, and would probably look nice with something burgundy…

Yes, sometimes I buy clothes or accessories this way: no clue how to wear it but I like it, so I get it…

Thanks, Patti. Well, there's no mystery to remembering birthdays, really. I know quite a few people who have birthdays around this time of the year (myself included)…

I do like your relaxed outfit and I quite understand about starting with that wonderful necklace. I bought some cork ear rings in Portugal , they are so light and lovely to wear. Enjoy that beautiful weather.

Thank you.Yes, the weather has been very warm recently. We've been pampered: sunny, long days, endless sunsets… I can't help but think that there must be some rain on the way (always the pessimist…)

I love those perfect sunny days. That linen tee is really a great neutral and I love how you paired it with the leaf necklace. http://www.mylittlenest.org

Fantastic necklace! I didn't know Madeira was famous for cork. The olive green really compliments the dark red stripes. Thanks for linking up!Emma xxxwww.style-splash.com
