I’ve been to a few Christmas Markets lately
First, there was the Christmas Bazaar at Deutsche Schule (= the German School in Helsinki). No, I don’t have children in the school, nor do I know anyone who does. But I have a German husband. And when I mentioned having read about this event, it was clear what our plans for Saturday would involve: hot soup, bratwurst and mulled wine…
So, the outfit is rather casual: a down coat, a cashmere jumper and a pair of trousers. Borderline boring, maybe, but definitely functional. And in my book, functionality comes first. I knew we would be spending some time outdoors, so I wanted to wear something warm (the temperature was above freezing, but still…) and comfortable.
Anyway, the next stop was the significantly bigger Christmas Market on the Senate Square in front of the Cathedral. Now, this one is huge: market stalls with food and handicrafts, a carousel, even a sauna.
However, we decided to skip the sauna and settled for a cup of glögi (= a hot Christmas drink made of grape juice and spices) instead.
Outfit details:
down jacket: KappAhl / cashmere jumper: Brora (old) / trousers: Marks and Spencer (old)
bag: Coach / sunglasses: Marc Jacobs (old) / boots: Nevada Nero
Are you planning to go to the Christmas Market?

I try to stop by the Christmas Market at least once, even though I really don’t like crowded places. December is always so busy that it’s almost over before you notice!
I have to dat, I love those markets! And glühwein! We live nearby Germany and they have the best Christmas markets!
Oh yes, German Christmas Markets are great!
what a lovely market!, I would enjoy watching all those stalls! (I do love a market!)And you look really comfy&cool, nicely accessorized and elegant!. Your bag is so fab!besos
Thanks. I’m afraid I didn’t see even half of what was there. I’m not comfortable in crowded places, so I tend to cut my visits short.
I can't believe I've not made it to a Christmas market this year – this one looks so pretty and festive! x
I know, December goes by so fast, almost as if it’s a lot shorter than the other months. And there’s always a million things to do!
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. The Christmas markets are a European thing that I really miss up here in Alaska.
But I bet you have lots of nice Christmas traditions, too. But yes, a Christmas Market is a nice place to stop by.
Sure, in cold weather we rarely dress with great style but this outfit is interesting. The coat, scarf and bag are unified in color and the other pieces nicely contrast with them. Happy holidays!
Thanks Ally!
