I prefer chinos to jeans
These days most jeans seem to be of the skinny variety, and I don’t think that’s for me. I prefer my clothes a bit less constricting and body-con. So, chinos it is.
It’s quite easy to put together a casual yet polished outfit around chinos. A plaid shirt instead of a t-shirt makes the look seem a bit more put-together and sophisticated, which is what I want for a more urban look. And then all I need is a pair of shoes. Flats, of course: loafers, brogues, ballerina flats… as long as it’s shoes not originally meant to be worn in the gym. And as you can see, my new pink bag is not just for work wear but can do casual, too…
A poncho is both casual and elegant
Besides, I don’t do hoodies, except (maybe) in the gym. But I understand the concept of a relaxed, light-weight cover-up to keep warm in the slightly cooler autumn weather.
Enter the wool poncho: whether you wear it it open or wrap it around you, it makes a statement in a way that a hoodie simply can’t.
I’m wearing:
poncho: Marja Kurki (similar, the blue poncho seen before HERE) / shirt: KappAhl /
trousers: Pure / shoes: Clarks / sunglasses: Chanel / bag: Furla
What’s your idea of casual wear?

I love wearing chinos too – much more comfortable than skinny jeans. Great poncho too. xo
Thanks, Patti. Yes, I find chinos very comfy, and great for transitional dressing, too.
What a great look! The poncho is such a great choice!
Thanks, Judi. would you believe me if I said I have this poncho in 4 colours…
I love the poncho and the color is great on you! You're like me, if you find something you love, buy it in multiple colors!!! I am all about ponchos and wraps this year myself. While I don't feel constricted in skinny jeans, I definitely feel constricted in a big, bulky winter coat! I hate coats, so wraps are my go-to for colder temperatures!Shelbeewww.shelbeeontheedge.com
Oh yes, I buy multiples… If something works, keep repeating it, that's my mantra.
Ponchos really are the thing this year. You look lovely in yours. Still loving your pinky bag!
Thanks, Connie. The pink bag is proving very useful: roomy enough for work, great for travel, works as a shopper, too…
Casual and classy , such a great look Tiina, I really like your chinos and that poncho. Like you skinnies are not for me , chinos are a great optoion.
Thanks, Jill. Yes, skinnies are not the best option for someone like me: thunder thighs and a big bum… chinos are so much more forgiving.
love this casual look! the cape is so stylishIrenewww.thedailylace.com
Thanks, Irene!
A great casual look. And I love how the pink in the shirt ties in with your lovely pink bag. I wish I could wear ponchos but I really don't think they suit me – that or I haven't found the right one yet. Tried one on again today but I looked like poor Annie orphan in it!
Thanks. Yes, it may be that you haven't found the right poncho. Some of them are just huge and swamp you, or they look sloppy and a bit too casual. I don't like most ponchos, but this one is OK, it doesn't overwhelm me.
LOVE your poncho, and now I want in the worst way! My entire wardrobe is casual, but I don't wear jeans, either. I like to be super-comfy, so all my clothes are knitwear, including my pants. My Visible Monday post…http://www.midlifemakeover.me/2015/10/the-secret-to-life-my-walk-in-rain.html
Thanks, Anna. I know what you mean, comfort is essential. I usually go for smart casual as I like a bit more put-together look, but everything I wear must be really comfortable.
I love the idea of a poncho more than I actually like wearing them. I own a couple of capes too and I also like them, but they are difficult to wear. My bag never stays on my shoulder, etc. Love the new bag. bisousSuzanne
Oh yes, a poncho and a shoulder bag, bad idea… I always go for either a tote or a mini crossbody (the 'hands free' look).
This looks like a comfortable look, loving the blue, I can't get enough of it. Thank you for linking up to "Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me"Rachel xoGaray Treasures
Thanks, blue is one of my favourite colours. And I certainly seem to have lots of blue clothes…
