Pattern Mixing
I’ve always been more of a solid-colours-and-simple-shapes kind of girl, and pattern mixing takes me out of my comfort zone a bit. So, it’s probably not a surprise that I keep the patterns small(ish) and opt for a limited colour palette.
Oh yes, I might be mixing patterns but I’m going all matchy-matchy as far as colours are concerned. It’s because I like harmony, and things that blend together organically and easily. Contrast is not my thing.
Casual and pulled-together
Maybe I’m a bit of a control freak: I want everything to look pulled together, as if there was some sort of a master plan. But a master plan that is almost accidental and spontaneous: something that just sort of came together naturally, without too much effort.
If I had to describe my style personality, that would be it: casual but pulled together. My biggest fear (when it comes to outfits, that is) is looking sloppy.
Harmony
I don’t worry about dressing age-appropriately, and I don’t give a damn about women’s magazines telling me to dress this way or that. I know what suits me, and I know what I like. And what I aim for is a successful synthesis of the two. Dressing is always a compromise of sorts: the ideal look has to be modified so that it also feels good to wear. And when something looks good and feels good, it looks natural and harmonious. It’s looks like me.
This is why I like this outfit: it’s casual and easy-going, yet everything blends together seamlessly. That’s what I want to look like, and that’s how I want to feel like. Not a tall order, then: letting my outfits reflect my goals in life?

Casual and pulled together is definitely you! I would add colorful to your descriptors, as this pattern mix is lovely. xox-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thanks, Patti.
I admire how well your style suits your personality. It virtually displays who you are. I wish I could find that.
I think style reflects personality, but only if we stop trying too hard to look a certain way and focus on how we feel instead. When something feels right, it probably also shows. That's what I believe, anyway.
I like your pattern mixing, as you said they are all of the same palette so it works!Popped by from Visible Monday.www.thriftshopcommando.blogspot.com
Thanks, Tami.
I like that casual look that is thought about!
me, too. And now that I think about it, I think I learned that from my mother…
Tiina you certainly do what I call dressy casual so very well, always so well thought out. I do like your quiet pattern mixing, I admire it so much on others and like you find it hard to pull off for me.
Wild pattern may look fantastic on some people, but if it doesn't feel like you, you will never feel comfortable and the outfit seems forced. I prefer staying in my comfort zone…
I love the pattern mixing. It is fun to see you mixing it up. bisousSuzanne
Thanks, Suzanne. I do like patterns, but I think I will keep it simple: more in tune with my personality.
I really like the pattern in your scarf!www.amemoryofus.com
Thanks, Darcy!
One small step towards prints, one big step outside your comfort zone 🙂 I know precisely what you mean, Tiina, and I think it looks lovely.
Thanks, Sheela! Sometimes a small step is enough. I believe in the 'less is more' approach…
