Bye Bye September

casual wear over 50

Can you believe it’s already October?

Where did September go, so fast? It’s truly autumn now, and the weather is getting colder (and rainier) every day. And as if that wasn’t enough, we’re losing daylight at the rate of several minutes per day…

So, we’d better enjoy those sunny autumn days while we can.  That’s why Professor M and I decided to spend the last Saturday in September with a little urban hiking trip (= having brunch in one of our favourite summer restaurants). It was also the last day the restaurant was open (this year, that is. It will open again next summer).

The restaurant is on a small island (and only accessible by a shuttle boat), which is linked to the neighbouring island by a jetty / bridge. So, after the brunch we took photos while walking around the island, and then went across the jetty / bridge and walked around the neighbouring island, too.

I wanted to take some autumn pictures, capture the mood, so to speak:

So, as I said, we walked all the way to the neighbouring island… The plan was to take the shuttle boat back to the mainland from there. Nice plan, except that there was no boat anymore, so late in the season…

No harm done. We just had to walk all the way back: around the island, across the jetty / bridge, and around the other island to catch the restaurant shuttle boat… Actually, I think we were lucky to get off the island at all, given that the restaurant had already closed a couple of hours earlier…

Being elegant in autumn. Fantastic. I just love the “fairy” mushroom.

Oh I love your pattern mixing here. Such a great scarf. And a restaurant that you need a boat to get to! Yes, please. My favorite part of this post, however, is that adorable mushy picture! I am a big fan of all mushrooms! And that one is a beauty! Thanks for linking up with me this week.

Thanks! Yes, there are a lot of summer restaurants (= open only during summer) on the small islands around the town. It’s always so great when they finally open in spring and the shuttle boats start going back and forth.
Yes, the mushroom was quite impressive ‘in person’, too. It was enormous! Not to mention that it looks as if someone cut a slice out, like it was a cake or something.
