Remember this dress?
It has quickly become a favourite of mine. I like the easy wraparound style that hugs my body without being too tight, and the statement sleeves give me some much-needed protection from the sun.
Whenever I find something that really works for me, I not only wear it to bits, but I often get the exact same item in a different colour (yes, I know: a bit boring…). So, when I saw that this dress was available with a different print, I ordered it. And yes, you can expect to see it soon…
But in the meantime, I wanted to see if accessories can change an outfit. Or, rather, how much accessories can change an outfit. The last time you saw this dress, it was with black accessories and black and white sunglasses:
So, this time, in order to put together a slightly different, softer look, I accessorised the dress with a white bag, black and white polka dot ballerina flats, mirrored sunglasses and pearl earrings:
I don’t often wear black or white as they tend to wash me out or make me look tired. I guess I just have one of those faces that need some colour. And I’m not talking about suntan here. In my case, ‘suntan’ equals a certain less flattering shade of pink reminiscent of roasted chicken… So, I’ve accepted that ‘pale’ is what I have to work with, year round.
However, I love both black and white in accessories. White, in particular, seems to freshen up a look in summer.
I also love pearl earrings. As they are white, they provide a nice contrast to my hair. Most of my earrings are the size of Christmas tree ornaments; otherwise they would not be visible under this frizzy mop I have instead of hair. Pearls are an exception to this, though; even small pearl earrings work.

That dress looks fabulous with either black or white accessories! Love the cute shoes you wore with the white accessories!

Thanks, Michelle!
It looks pretty with both but I do love it with white: brightens it up and those pearl earrings are gorgeous. I was just looking at my off white bag the other day and thinking I need to pull it out this summer. Maybe today is the day!

Thanks, Mireille.
Yes, think white works for summer, it just brightens up an outfit instantly. And it goes with almost anything, too.
Obviously they both work but for some reason I am drawn to the black. That said, maybe white for day and black for night in summer…

That’s a good idea!
Somehow that beautiful black bag disappears into the pattern of that dress, but white accessories add contrast. I’d say with white accessories definitely. How about putting together an outfit just for that black bag? Or to be honest, to any of you bags, you could start a nice outfit series with them. Hyvää juhannusta Tiina. -q

Yes, white is better for contrast, you’re right.
And an outfit series focusing on bags, that’s definitely a good idea!
Hyvää juhannusta!
Definitely black, for me.

I always struggle to style anything black, even though I love black accessories. And in my mind, I always associate black more with winter and white with summer…
This is another one of your signature dresses. You look stunning and know you to wear them. Love the look.

Tiina, I love the polka dot ballet flats with this dress! So cute! I have the same problem with earrings getting lost in my hair. But pearls really do always work against dark hair. Thanks for linking up with us!

Thanks! Well, diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but pearls look nicer… at least with dark hair. I like pearls, but I find them sometimes challenging to style.
White definitely for now. But both look great with the dress. By the way, love the dress! Arlene from NJ
